    Uncharted Spaces Uncharted Spaces
A gorgeous ECM-flavored fusion album that incorporates the best of many worlds - Westcoast, New Age and the smoothest sounds of the 80's into one inventive whole. Highly recommended!
  6. I Wonder
    by Teramaze
    Sleeping Man Sleeping Man
Top-tier progressive metal with a keen sense for hooks and arrangement. This fantastic outing was clearly a labor of love for guitarist Dean Wells and it shows in every aspect of the production (including his amazing voice). Just a great experience from start to finish, and a major highlight of 2020.

  8. Coming Home
    by Tomi Malm
Westcoast-AOR doesn't get much better than this. It has everything - a glorious jazzy pop sensibility, lots of song variety and beautiful lyrics too. Plus the list of singers and players here is amazing, with my favorite being Bill Cantos on the sweeping, cinematic 'Come Away' that sounds like a lost gem from his Airplay For The Planet sessions with Jay Graydon. A must-have album experience!

It has been a real pleasure to hear The Midnight constantly push themselves to never do the same album twice. Monsters, in a conceptual sense, is synthwave personfied -- a teen in the 90's nostalgic for his 80's childhood. While not perfect, this album is a big step up from their previous outing Kids and it has an understated power and depth that other albums in the genre could learn from. 2020 AOTY material for sure!

    Wide Open Wide Open
Stellar solo outing from one of the best voices in progressive metal. Thoughtful at times, heavy and ridiculously catchy to boot (especially on the cruisin' Wide Open and the title track). For fans of Queensryche circa Rage For Order, Fates Warning, early Dream Theater or bands like Anubis Gate and Teramaze.
  19. Sucker In The Promised Land

Soothe A Savage Soul Soothe A Savage Soul
One of the best Westcoast jazz pop-rock albums I've heard in a long time. The production is amazing for an independent release, the hooks are interesting, the lyrics clever in a Steely Dan-ish way and the little things (like the Motown-sounding lick on Soothe A Savage Soul and the Thomas Dolby styled synth washes on Before He Finds Out) really elevate this album into special territory. Early AOTY potential!
  20. Calypso
    by Gigi Masin
    Nefertiti Nefertiti
Gigi Masin is one of the greatest ambient artists of all time, and Calypso is perhaps his greatest recording to date. Jazzy, hypnotic and at times extremely moving to listen to -- what an experience.
