Oh my goodness, what a complete and utter treat this album is. Several of these tracks stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Pernice’s very best work, which is a high accolade indeed - as both a lyricist and a tunesmith, the man has had few equals over the last couple of decades. There’s just so much to love here, but the one-two of ‘Throw Me to the Lions’ and ‘Skinny Jeanne’ on tracks 7 and 8 is ridiculously brilliant - two slices of jangle pop perfection in quick succession.
