  1. TAROT part I
by Magick Brother & Mystic Sister
Almost four years since the debut and more than worth the wait. This is the first installment, can't wait for the second! The band has taken its brand of psych and prog to the next level, with a more spacy, dreamy, pastoral approach. It's so nice to hear music like this being made in the present day!

This is the first installment and with members of Wobbler, Tusmørke, Jordsjø and others this does not disappoint. In fact this is perhaps the finest Norwegian retro prog I have ever heard! Lots of great analog keys plus lengthy complex pieces, sounding like a more rocking Wobbler at times (as well as Yes and King Crimson). No doubt recommended for fans of any of the mentioned groups and '70s prog in general.

    Naturens katedral Naturens katedral
Like Ed Wynne from Ozric Tentacles I never thought Lars Fredrik Frøislie would go solo and with Fire Fortellinger he did and what an incredible album! Great keyboard-dominated symphonic prog that's not unlike Wobbler but with his own touch. What's incredible is he did this all by himself, on keyboards and drums, plus vocals (in Norwegian) with the only outside help providing bass. If you love vintage keys this is required, as well as all Wobbler fans and symph progheads in general.

  14. Habibi Funk 005: The Electronic Tapes
    by Ahmed Malek & Flako
Great electronic and ambient music from this Algerian musician who also scored films. These are a collection of cassettes that were edited and touched up by Flako, German-based producer and musician to make them sound like full pieces and not unfinished demos. Occasional use of oud and local music styles occasionally show up which I really enjoyed. Plus I noticed a sample from French electronic musician Zanov and his 1976 album Green Ray near the end of the album. Amazing stuff!
  15. Born
    by Birth
I was certain Astra was gone since they didn't released anything new since 2012 with the Black Cord and I was right. Birth comes from the ashes of Astra with Conor Riley and Brian Ellis with new musicians and it's as if Astra never left. Same great retro approach combining prog, psych and hard rock styles with great use of vintage keyboards and nice guitar work.

  20. Auf Auf
    by Embryo
I was certain it was all over with Embryo with the passing of Christian Burchard. It's like imagining King Crimson going on without Robert Fripp. But Christian's daughter Marja Burchard stepped up and continue on the Embryo name and create a masterpiece every bit as good as their classics. Amazing combination of world music, fusion and prog with rock and Arab, Turkish and Persian instruments (oud, cümbüs, santur). This album will blow you away!
