Journey Through The Asteroid Belt Journey Through The Asteroid Belt
Full-on trippy, a modern take on the psychedelic craziness of the soundtrack to my youth, an era when the summer festival season was altogether less commercial and more sensational. Hold tight!

After the Rain After the Rain
Denys delivers another stunning album that, as usual, was well worth the wait. This is far more than DB plays JC - a very considered homage that hangs together as a whole quite beautifully. Great to hear Steve Williamson in action again, too.
  7. La Sombra
    by Chip Wickham

    The Detour The Detour
Driving rhythm coupled with intense, modal harmonic structures and some truly feverish flute playing - I like this a lot.
  8. Bullhorn
    by Verneri Pohjola
    00:00/00:00
    Cold Blodded Cold Blodded
I love the way Verneri manipulates mood and intensity in these pieces, with his fantastically expressive tone. Beautiful composition, great improvisation, lovely interplay between musicians - outstanding.

    Merula Merula
Though I tend towards the 'turntable-sceptic', this is really beautifully done, with a very light touch. Reminiscent of EST at times (which is high praise indeed), a lovely jazz/trip-hop crossover.
  10. When The World Was One

    Falling Water Falling Water
Beautiful composition from Matthew Halsall and wonderful musicianship from the entire Gondwana orch. as always. Falling Water gives me the same vibe I got listening to Sol, from Andy Sheppard's debut album, in my youth. Fantastic.

Just about blew my socks off first time around. Super-chilled, multi-layered, intense and beautiful.
