  8. Season Of The Damned
    by Black Spell
Another fantastic offering from the Italian doomsters. Nobody does this occult doom style better. Great riffs with the vocals typically low in the mix. A great Xmas gift!
  9. Death by Manipulation
    by Napalm Death
My favorite Napalm Death album. The first half is slower than usual for them. I actually prefer this sound. The riffs are fantastic. The second half is more typical grindcore. It is also great.
  10. Heartwork (Full Dynamic Range Edition)
    by Carcass
A classic collection of melodic death metal riffs embedded within some really great songs. One, if not the best, of the best albums of all time in the genre. A must have even for non-death metal lovers like myself.
  11. Gnosis
    by Russian Circles
Russian circles have done it again. Another great album with amazing production. Along with Pelican, they are the premier instrumental post-metal band worldwide. Everyone raves about the rhythm section as they should, but I think Mike Sullivan is a much under appreciated axeman.
  12. Black Spell
    by Black Spell
While not quite at the same level as their newest release The Purple Skull, this album is very solid in its own right. They are the best Italian doom band in my opinion, and that is saying something at the present time.

  14. ...For Victory

  15. Forged in Hell
    by Sludge Terror
This mystery man does it again. Heavy and very listenable, this is short, sweet and highly recommended.
  16. Tenebris
    by Sludge Terror
Who the hell is this heavy riff master? Great sounding and diabolically heavy instrumental sludge riffs. A great listen.
  17. Electric Voodoo
    by Demonio
Not quite as heavy as some of their Italian doom brethren, these guys add an overwhelming level of warm fuzzy riffs to make their point. I am not sure what is going on in Italy, but this offering shows that the Italians may have the best doom scene in Europe.
  18. The IVth Crusade (Full Dynamic Range Edition)
    by Bolt Thrower
I used to think that Warmaster was their masterpiece, but now I’m inclined to opt for this collection of heavy riff laden war stories. Every song is fantastic and contains some of the best riffs ever laid down on tape. Death metal cannot get better than this.
  19. We Are All Atomic
    by Spotlights
The clear leaders in doomgaze after Artic Sleep went another direction. Short but sweet, the EP sets a new standard. A grant listen.
