Lauren is a rarely celebrated kind of musician, one who's sincere above all else. Her quiet delivery and heartbreaking choice of perfect metaphor and all too real stories only hold you closer. Lauren got me hooked to her words on YouTube, but sold me when I saw her live, where her voice transformed from this quiet and controlled method of delivery to an emotional powerhouse that kicked me in the gut. I have sincerely not looked at singer-songwriters the same way since.

This is a record that screams brilliance, past, present and future. It's an exercise of control and an even greater display of balance between pure musicianship and a real sensibility for what a good SONG is. This record is going to last for a long time. That's a promise.

I sincerely wonder some days if Now, Now was not just a supergroup of three world famous musicians put together before each artist became world famous due to some sort of Time Lord intervention. Jess Abbott is a wizard on guitar, and her imagery is unassuming at first until it takes complete hold of your brain for days.
