    by Edward Ka-Spel
  2. Kickin' In
    by Patrick Cowley
You Gotta Make It Loose You Gotta Make It Loose
Boy somebody listened to cerrone supernature... Not just the obvious sweet drums intro, but listening repeatedly the whole piece copies cerrones song. Not Cowley's finest moment. The vocals could be better too, well the lyrics. Gets monotonous with only verse chants. The two other tracks are amazing, especially loose. People catch you listening you have to explain. I never do though 😅

    Gums Bleed Gums Bleed
Glad to see Jim's oldest stuff is getting a nice digital/vinyl reissue and remastered too!! Great news as I used to bug him maybe ten years ago about the singles collection he said was being released. Let's just do remastered Hole, Nail and Thaw then the singles set? However long it's worth the wait. Don't forget Wiseblood too!!
  5. Mechanical Fantasy Box
    by Patrick Cowley
Lumberjacks in Heat Lumberjacks in Heat
Lumberjacks, right here, thrill, breakdown and maybe gieshas tune on a good day. The rest is too sparse and slow. After that killer porn trilogy nothing was going to come close. I'd say this and candida cosmica are closest in sound and thats probably why they got released back to back. Lo fi bleeps and blurps from the early to mid 70s, though candida is rewarding the more you listen. The mid stuff here, still not so much.
  6. Some Funkettes
    by Patrick Cowley
I Feel Love I Feel Love
Ok the quality of some of the tracks for sitting in a dark room since 75 is excellent. The I feel love version here is wild. Just loud synths and much more energy, hell you can see why Cowley took hi nrg further than moroder ever could have in the 80s. The Herbie Hancock take is another one I can't get enough of. Papa is a nice one too, it's all good. Keep digging this stuff up please! It will be a sad day when all his stuff has been released but at least we'll finally have it all.
  7. Only Dreaming
    by Legendary Pink Dots
Another Kind Of Violence Another Kind Of Violence
Could some NON reviews here be any more painful to read? Yikes lol

These tracks sound much better and I'll finally get into the earliest stuff, maybe. It's still dated AF compared to 82 and onward, but the softer sound makes it easier on the ears. Correct track order and original takes of classics are why you should get it again. These are most likely some of the first recordings as LPD switched from One Day.
  8. Candida Cosmica

Shimmering (Where Am I?) Shimmering (Where Am I?)
Holy hell why hasn't anyone talked about this? If it's true these tracks were recorded from 74-75 (save for tomato song bc it says it's 73) then Cowley's beyond moroder, as he wasn't doing anything this abstract ever in his career, especially not in 74-75. Now it does sound very much like kraftwerk from 74-75, radioactivity probably inspired these sessions. Amazing abstract art. Let's rewrite those history books. Also candida amazing singing. Could she at least have tried lol? 🤣
  9. Khataclimici China Doll (2021 Remaster)

  10. Curse (Remastered)
    by Legendary Pink Dots
Curse - The Sequel / An Accursed Jam Curse - The Sequel / An Accursed Jam
Love these post 2018 reissues! There's always great new(old) bonus material. It's like with traumstadt in the 80's and now these remasters they are finally releasing what would have been chemical playschool 5,6 and 7?

Even if it gets repetitive it sounds amazing.. Curse the sequel we've had for years with CP3/4, but here it sounds like it was just recorded. Unreal sonic overhaul. 5star release for a four star record!!

Premonition 5 / Deflated / Stoned Obituary (KK) Premonition 5 / Deflated / Stoned Obituary (KK)
Looks like there's good here no doubt, minus that god awful cover lol. Premonition 5 is worth half the price of admission. The other half is songs you've heard before or elsewhere reworked that are ok, but whyyy this need for the inexcusable inclusion of stuff we already have? Why is KK material here when it was just rereleased (in 2016 no less, same as this) and most of us would have it? Missed opportunities to put songs that are still yet to be released from compilations on your compilation..
  17. Red Letters (2020 Remaster)
    by Edward Ka-Spel
Nice to see Ka-Spel reissuing and sorting between his site and The Dot's. How organized could your discography be with it amongst all the LPD stuff lol? Great album and Belief sounds like a psychedelic scarface theme. The blissful end of an era - in sensurround :)
  18. Deaf
    by Foetus
A solid first effort and a great remastering job even buying digital files. I'm sure the vinyl sounds even better!! The rest of the 80's through mid 90's catalog needs this treatment because Thirlwell's music is too good to be left in obscurity!! 4/5
