  2. Valentines
    by Hetty Kate
Romance Without Finance Romance Without Finance
The EP is a cynical collection of love songs that will delight. There is a confidence and ease that comes across in every song. Combining Hetty Kate, Mark Fitzgibbon, Sam Lemann, and Ben Hanlon you get a dream team that delivers magic. You can sense the joy they had in performing together, it is like someone happened to record tunes they were doing for their own enjoyment - and now we get to share that joy.
  3. Long Story Short
    by Long Story Short
I find this album frustrating, here's why. I want to have a favorite song. I get one, then, I continue to listen and have a new favorite, ugh, then another. I can't decide! Can the whole album be my favorite? Is that an option?
  4. Near
    by Kate Hinote Trio
Make Me Stop Make Me Stop
A great collection of songs from Detroit-based songwriters united with the unique Kate Hinote Trio sound. Starting with the ethereal, yet powerful voice of Kate Hinote, joined by Matthew Parmenter on violin, and David Johnson on acoustic guitar. Matthew can make his one violin play many parts, even somehow being a backup vocal - just listen carefully to see. David, well, it's all there, the piece that is the foundation and really makes this work. This is an album that rewards on re-listening.

  7. Time Didn't Matter
    by The Blueflowers
Can't Sit Out Can't Sit Out
New Blueflowers with all the things that provide that recognizable sound. Is it Rock? Alternative? Is it Noir? Does it matter? No, it is Blueflowers, and worth a listen. Beyond that there is the depth in the lyrics which deserve their own reading. Spend time with this EP and you will be rewarded.
  8. Quesaco
    by Paris Combo
    Quesaco? Quesaco?
What can I say? It's Paris Combo, what else do you need to know? Everything you know and love, but here, refined and quite possibly better.
  9. Echo Summit
    by Sam 'n Ash
New Yorker Set New Yorker Set
How can you do so much with an Accordion and a Mandolin? The perceived simplicity is deceptive in that repeated listening shows the depth that is here. While I love all of their compositions you really see their skill with La Valse D'Amélie. What can you say different with a tune like that? Listen and find out.
  10. Doing Some Christmas Caroling
    by The Speakeasies' Swing Band!
Merry Christmas Baby Merry Christmas Baby
Speakeasies’ Swing Band! and Christmas songs. A combination I hadn’t expected but I’m so glad they did. A different way to hear these familiar tunes. Try them out and shake up your holiday.
  11. Cure For Loneliness
    by Lily Frost
You could call this Western Swing and swing it does. It's catchy, fun, but don't let that ride distract you from the lyrics.
  12. High Low High Low
    by Luna Keller
I am addicted to this song. Each time I listen it reveals more. There is a complexity here that is hidden in what seems to be a simple, spare song. Luna is able to use her phrasing to project the emotion in the meaningful lyrics. I issue this warning - it is a great earworm of a catchy pop tune - with great depth. Listen and get addicted yourself.

A great gypsy jazz reimagining of this classic song.

Always loved Liz Brady in general and Palladium in particular, this brings the groove to the 21st Century.

A perfectly curated gem. Five songs that go in different directions with their melodies and rhythms but all carry you along to the same satisfying conclusion.
