To me Jen Wood's first releases were important introductory pieces to the genre of indie female singer-songwriter. I was more than happy to rediscover her through Finds You In Love. Finely swinging band arrangements and the fragility of Wood's vocals capture my attention, time and time again.
Rough around the edges and full of emotional energy ranging from the highs of Elli B Butterfly to the dark corners of The Stripper, just like I love my Damien Youth. 'The Stripper' alone is worth name-your-price.
For some 15 years this album has been one of those I keep going back to regularly. And still, every time, I seem to find yet another favorite track on it. Personal classic that manages to capture and envelope an important part and time of myself.
Moonlover finds the perfect balance between black, post and atmospheric without being poppy nor becoming too abstract or enigmatic. Simply: a very listenable and dark album.
