One Hand Killing One Hand Killing
Impossible to put down from the first listen, the second album from Aussie djent metal-fusion nutters, Twelve Foot Ninja, is awesome all round. Combining elements of funk, reggae, metal, djent and even flamenco guitar, their songs are catchy, wonderfully crafted and groovy as all hell. Highly recommended and their videography on Youtube is an utter delight also.

    "Have you been busy?" ;)

It Doesn't Happen It Doesn't Happen
When 2 members of Rachel Stamp get together with a bunch of synthesizers and a guitar, you get this. Punchy 80s drenched synth work with more than a nod to Duran Duran and Sigue Sigue Sputnik underline Shaheena's sultry vocals. Well worth checking out.

    Arrival Arrival
Before the full on Lucio Fulci-thon that was Skull & Shark, Lazerhawk went full on 80s sci-fi with this release, and damn if it isn't every bit as good as his first release, Redline. The whole album just flows from track to track beautifully, culminating in Arrival (my personal favourite), a somewhat melancholic departure.
Another real pioneer of the synthwave movement, check it out!
  10. MORAL DECAY (Album)
    by VHS Glitch
    00:00/00:00
    Acid Rage Acid Rage
The 'Glitch does it once again. Seemingly able to churn out superb retrowave albums every few months, Moral Decay takes on a slightly more cyberpunk influence and is well worth the purchase!

    Threshold Threshold
Full on trance/dance goodness, very reminiscent of a lot of old 90s PS1 racing game soundtracks such as Wipeout and Motorhead!
    Absolutely awesome stuff!

The debut LP by Trevor Something is an absolute joy to subject your ears to. Expertly crafted songs and wonderful melodies!
  18. TRILOGY
    by Carpenter Brut
    00:00/00:00
Escape From Midwich Valley Escape From Midwich Valley
With nods to Stephen King's "Creepshow" OST right from the off, this compilation of the 3 Brut EPs slams horror, retrowave and synthesizer goodness together perfectly.
  19. Redline
    by Lazerhawk
    00:00/00:00
    Distress Signal Distress Signal
The album that kickstarted my love affair with synthwave. From the opening salvo of Redline and Overdrive, this album never lets up with infectious melodies guaranteed to stick in the head for weeks afterwards.

  21. EP II
    by Power Glove
    00:00/00:00
    Grip Grip
A much darker release than EP I and explores a wider range of songwriting. Brings to mind a darkened alleyway in Los Angeles, drenched in overheard neon lights as a traveller from the future breathlessly rushes to escape the police and locate his target, Sarah Connor ;)
  22. NEAR DARK
    by DANCE WITH THE DEAD
    00:00/00:00
    RISER RISER
Excellent Carpenter/Fulci inspired horror-wave, spiced up with superb guitar work. These guys go from strength to strength throughout their entire discography, this being no exception.
  23. Frozen Cortex: Original Soundtrack

    00:00/00:00
Pushing (Highlight Edit) Pushing (Highlight Edit)
Somewhat more upbeat and dancey than previous "Frozen" releases and in no way worse for it. A definite gym soundtrack if ever there was one!

Stamp on the accelerator pedal and set your sights on the neon streaked city streets. The 'Glitch does it again with another superb little EP of high octane synthwave!

    by OGRE
    00:00/00:00
    Atomic Shogun Atomic Shogun
Takes elements from Blade Runner, Predator, Terminator, Tron and all your favourite 80s movies and creates an amazingly atmospheric soundtrack to the greatest sci-fi movie never made. An incredible piece of work that comes highly recommended.
  30. EP 1
    by Power Glove
    00:00/00:00
Streets of 2043 Streets of 2043
With many a nod to gaming consoles of the 80s and 90s, you can easily see why these guys did the killer soundtrack to Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon! Turn it up!
  31. Synthwars
    by alpharisc
    00:00/00:00
Stage 2 - Intruder Alert Stage 2 - Intruder Alert
If there's one thing Alpharisc does insanely well, it's create the kind of 80s/90s video game infused melodies that will implant themselves into your brain and never let go. Each track on this EP conjures up images of old, smoky arcades where Double Dragon was king and CRT monitors, joysticks and cigarette stained buttons were our escape to the virtual world. Love it!!
  32. Clear
    by Periphery
    00:00/00:00
The Parade Of Ashes The Parade Of Ashes
Djent metal goodness at its finest. Matt Halpern happens to be one of my favourite drummers with his incredible grasp of flair, power and mastering of off-kilter time signatures, and his playing perfectly compliments the exquisite guitar and vocal work here. Bring on the November UK tour, guys!!
  33. Evil Technology (Album)
    by VHS Glitch
    00:00/00:00
    Jaw Breaker Jaw Breaker
This album hits you with a full on splash of synthwave goodness and then never lets go. Absolutely fantastic stuff with the track Insert Coin being an obvious nod to Street Fighter 2's intro!

A sublime and melancholic trip. Simply wonderful from start to finish.
