I might be 10 years late to the party, but what does that matter? When I think of pop music, I think of Top Sound. There’s not a song on this record that doesn’t exhibit thoughtful, creative songwriting, qualities that used to define pop music but now elude most. And it’s its listenability that makes it truely impressive. I sing along with every track (even Francophile, and I don’t speak French). Could You Be the One Could You Be the One
I never imagined that TRD would produce a 1960s girl group cover. For me, You’re Lookin’ at My Guy only confirms the fact that genre aside, TRD are fantastic songwriters. Whether it’s indie-pop or lover’s rock, the strength of their music is in the quality of their writing and delivery, particularly their choice of melody.
Could You Be the One is the perfect TRD ballad. That Bacharach-esque call and response between Johan’s vocals and that horn-sounding synth is heavenly. Pure genius.

    Chirology Chirology
Always come back to this tune. I discovered The Color Waves when I was living abroad in East Asia, working 12-hour days. Chirology reminds me of rainy morning commutes and dodging puddles in the factory grounds on the way to my office. A really special time; a really special song. Perfect pop.
