I think it is worth noting that, from time to time, with certain bands, NYCtaper makes live recordings available via Bandcamp, with proceeds going to the band.
A great application of the pay what you want concept.
For fans of the Solar Motel this is surely worth a listen.
Well captured, as always, rock-rooted psych by a band that really gets it.

Late Night Shortwave Late Night Shortwave
I'm listening to Late Night Shortwave for the third time.
I'm 65, and when I was a kid shortwave was kind of a big deal to a group of us (maybe the nerds of our time). Some of us even learned electronics by building our own. I had a sweet Heathkit.
The sample sounds just like it sounded.
The music sounds just like it felt.
At night, in the dark, lit by glowing tubes.
Listening to something mysterious, miraculous, and from far away.
    Really far away.
    Wonderful.
    I know.

    Mercury Rise Mercury Rise
I hoped they could pull this stuff off live, and they certainly can.
Great psychedelic layered sound is captured beautifully.
Nothing here disappoints but 6am also stands out for me.
A small investment that brings great rewards.

Studio lets them layer and expand the sound.
    Great depth.
More considered, maybe, but no less interesting.

Layered, gorgeous and, to some extent, from my neck of the woods.
Really wouldn't have caught this without the bandcamp blog.

Great instrumental guitar based band. You'd never know it's live were it not for the short opening track. Some neo-surf feel, but much more!

There is a great live capture on archive.org if you choose to pursue it.
Whether you do or not, I can't recommend this studio recording enough.

While From Fathoms remains my favorite of this fine band's output, this must come a close second. Sculpted from the same layered guitarcentric strata, the music here could have been a second disc in that release. Massive.
live material from these releases is beautifully documented at archive.org here: archive.org/details/GFE2009-08-17.asburyAT320.FLAC.

I've enjoyed this band's music since my discovery of them at archive.org.
This release is less guitar centered and more impressionistic than earlier offerings, but continues to offer a fine sense of melody layered into the sonic palette.

First thought, about 40 seconds in, was of an old favorite psychedelic band of mine, HP Lovecraft. Dense arrangement with fine vocal harmonies and wide open spaces guitars.
    Cool!
