  1. Endless Summer
    by Northern Lights Productions
    Sunset Sunset
Endless Summer is a phenomenal achievement that IMHO shares as much with the likes of Songs to Learn and Sing as it does mixtapes. Some of TNL's biggest career hits through 2016 (many from Dreamers) and new music (for 2016) are intricately woven together to craft an exquisite, heart-wrenching journey with an astonishingly coherent atmosphere & tone. An absolute classic, & a must-own for Synthwavers. "Sunset" alone is one of my absolute favorite songs of all time.

  4. Trespass
    by Go Hawaii
    Coastal Coastal
Rolling motorik beats, crashing Surf guitars, dreamy melodies, grubby Post-Punk bass, sparkling, shimmering synth pads & heady, introspective lyrics come together to create something truly singular and special. For me the union of Post-Punk & Surf Rock is always a match made in heaven, and this album is positively heavenly. Track picks: Literally everything, but especially "Coastal", "Huge Rant" & "Coral Blues".

    by Miami Andy
Night Cold Eclipse Night Cold Eclipse
An intoxicating blend of Miami Andy's signature circular Synthwave melodies and interest in occult themes with a crunchy, stomping Industrial Darkwave sound, occasionally even flirting with Witch House. A considered ambient touch pulls the whole atmosphere together, painting a nocturnal soundscape of bewitching, mesmerizing rituals and circle-dances in the forest at night. A personal favorite of mine! Track picks: "Hexensabbat", "Gothic Girl", "Night Cold Eclipse".
  9. Moonflower
    by Graveyard Club
    Rose Vine Rose Vine
I'm a relatively late convert to Graveyard Club, only discovering them in 2019. That said Moonflower is my favorite album of theirs yet: There's a melancholy grace & weathered wisdom on display here that really speaks to me. Towering, awe-inspiring "Valens" is legitimately one of the greatest singles I have ever heard & saw me through a difficult time in my life. Powerful, vital "Rose Vine" is just as good & both are crown jewels of a remarkable album. Track picks: "Valens", "Rose Vine".
  10. Miami Vice,1986,One Way
    by Miami Andy
Shadow In The Dark Shadow In The Dark
Miami Vice is a common Synthwave theme, but Miami Andy's take is unique in how it directly engages with the original TV show as a rescore & concept album. Naturally Jan Hammer is the primary influence here, & Miami Andy's style is a natural fit. A pleasant surprise for me was the return of the ritualistic beats, ethereal highs & crunchy lows of Possessed By Evil And Beauty, helping to further stamp a maker's mark. Definitely my favorite Miami Vice Synthwave album! Track picks: Most of them TBH.
  11. City Of Angels (original soundtrack)
    by The Northern Lights
    Lift Off Lift Off
A masterfully deft fusion of The Northern Lights' signature synthwave with ambient, New Age-y, Hearts of Space-style space music reminiscent of Vangelis or Gerald Jay Markoe. Swirling, crystalline and truly Angelic choir voices define an ethereal and stunningly beautiful soundscape. A remarkable and inspired experience from start to finish. Track picks: "City of Angels", "Lift Off", "Feel The Rush".

  14. Destiny Strike
    by Miami Andy
The Last Razorblade The Last Razorblade
Destiny Strike builds on its two predecessors while also taking a firm step in a new direction. Goth is back in, but the combination of heartfelt, yearning themes, complex melodies & a more 80s pop-forward approach give the album a bittersweet, romantic mood. Destiny Strike marks a, to me, deeply welcome return to the gossamer & ethereal soundscapes that characterized Miami Andy's earliest releases. Track picks: "Loveletter To A Fairy Heart", "The Last Razorblade", "Blood And Tears On The Rose".
  15. Hypnotizing Dreams
    by Miami Andy
Dancing With A Girl Dancing With A Girl
An exploration of the roots of Synthwave through 1980s Synthpop sounds and teen movie themes. Brisk & poppy by Miami Andy standards with a mood reminiscent of, say, early The Northern Lights or Marvel83', but that's far from a complaint: This a sincere celebration of the Synthwave movement & all it means, bringing hope & joy to the dark times in which it released. The back third also seems to hint at what was to come next. Track picks: "Silent Sky", "Make-Up And Lipstick", "Dancing With A Girl".
