  1. Celeste Original Soundtrack
    by Lena Raine
Reach for the Summit Reach for the Summit
This album does more than stand on its own. It single-handedly takes you through Madeline's journey, showing you every twist and turn, every growth, every test, and every struggle she faces on her climb. Reach for The Summit is a phenomenal finale track and perfectly fits the level's structure, with all previous levels' mechanics (and motifs, in the case of the OST) being revisited in a new, more challenging gauntlet.
  2. Cobalt Core (Original Soundtrack)
    by Aaron Cherof
    Self-Defense Self-Defense
This has quickly become my favorite game of all time. The charming (and furry!) characters, the incredibly unique story, and the mechanics are all some of the most rock-solid I've seen before, but the music really sets it apart. It passes the "non-existent emotion" test handily and still has time to implement motifs in the tracks. The sector boss tracks, specifically, really encapsulate the feeling that your crew must be sharing, the raw hope that maybe, just maybe, this loop will be the one.
  3. Bicycle
    by Patricia Taxxon
    Big Wheel Big Wheel
Patricia uses a delightful collection of sounds and noises to take you by the paw into her world, a world full of fluff, scales, and feathers. Bicycle wants you to feel like you are, as the title suggests, riding on a bicycle through the soundscape, seeing and hearing a huge variety of styles and areas. Where sounds fall short, Patricia utilizes absolutely poetic lyrics to complete the picture.
  4. Nostalgia
    by Patricia Taxxon
    Tall Grass Tall Grass
I say that the best game music (or game-like in this case) capture an emotion that doesn't exist. This does that, while also putting in the extra leg work required to paint a picture of this theoretical game in someones mind while listening.
  5. Fight Songs: The Music Of Team Fortress 2
    by Valve Studio Orchestra
    Mercenary Park Mercenary Park
I often say that the best game soundtracks recreate an emotion that doesn't exist, and boy howdy is this dripping with nonexistent emotions. I may even go as far as to say that I could probably recreate (somewhat accurately) the specific moments that these songs were first heard without even seeing them beforehand.
  6. Pix & Bit
    by Patricia Taxxon
Catch These Hands Catch These Hands
This album makes an incredible shift in tone in the last four tracks. Whimsical, joy-filled tracks characterized by pointy instrumentation and defiant vocals shift to a heartfelt and emotional story characterized by pianos and quiet lyrics.
  7. Agnes & Hilda
    by Patricia Taxxon
    Like Like
Autistic furry joy from top to bottom, this album is dripping with genuine and unabashed self-expression. Harsh, contrasting melodies expertly symbolize the unbelievable disconnect between a neurodivergent presentation and a neurodivergent brain.
  8. Rainbow Road
    by Patricia Taxxon
    Take Care Take Care
iirc this is the very first Taxxon album I listened to, and after listening to her other albums, I still come back when I need a soundscape for driving at night
  9. Two Tone
    by Patricia Taxxon
    Cold Princess Cold Princess
Icy and sharp, this album is a welcome addition to my cold-night drive playlist.
