With a killer melodic sensibility and a clever sentiment towards the extreme, this full lenght debut is supreme authentic. In fact, Winds of Leng is what this genre must try to achieve: cohesion and face-ripping sincerity.

    by Seax
Forged by Metal Forged by Metal
"Speed Metal Mania" is a work without compromises. Riffing is fun, and, for sure, vocals and production are set on a comfortable seat (of a motorcycle). I mean, this is pure attitude and that sincerity oozes from all the songs. Cool record from a cool band.

A New Magic arises from the Steppes of Kolm A New Magic arises from the Steppes of Kolm
This is the best Erang album hands down. Massive, otherwordly and full of hooks that will draw you to his magickal dimension.

2017 is starting great to the Dungeon Synth niche!

  28. The Grim Muse
    by In Twilight's Embrace
    No No
A fine and elegant display of how melodic death metal should sound. Sometimes aggresive, sometimes melancholic. The true nature of this aesthethic can be compared to At the Gates, but In Twilight's Embrace go beyond of mere name-dropping, they are crafting their own path with passionate song-writing and memorable lines.

Also, it has Tompa Lindberg on vocals. It was such a sweet bonus point, I love that guy so much!

  33. II
    by Fief
Deep Forest Dance Deep Forest Dance
Deep into the Forest, you will see the Elves dancing. With the regal costumes and the resounding laugh, the few pointed ear beings left in this land forget their grief through the happiness of their company.

If you enjoyed the Fief debut, you need this one in your collection too. Some unexpected touches here and there, seasoned by a warm dungeon synth wrapping. Pure excellence.

  34. ''Crossing the Rubicon - Revisited''
The Juggernaut Divine The Juggernaut Divine
Crushing, intense, otherwordly, melodic, introspective. I loved the original album, but this re-recording turns to 12 every aspect of the Armageddon formula. The superb guitarwork and solid rhythm background meets the correct inclusion of Mr. Hämäläinen on the vocals with his dark vocal style.

  35. Within The Land Of My Imagination I Am The Only God

    The Erangers The Erangers
A devilish record enchanted by weird potions and tribal sounds. A very intense listening, and a recommended one, for sure!

  37. Wolves of Retribution
    by Knightmare
Days of the King Days of the King
Blessed in the righteous altar of the riff, the debut of the Knightmare clan is marching towards the eternal fight with valour, honour and might. Pay attention to the magical guitar harmonies, for they slay with strength!

  38. Weaponlord Ep
    by Weaponlord
    Freedom War Freedom War
Part US Power Metal, part German powerthrash. An invincible debut with a gritty multicolored riffing and aggresive vocal work. If this is the beginning for this band, I'm more than welcome to hear the rest they will bring!

  39. The Tracks of the Hunted
    by Noire
III. The Tracks of the Hunted III. The Tracks of the Hunted
Surrounded by woodsy folklore and incredible acoustic expression, the title track is a monumental effort to channel all the arcane magic of the true spirit of the nature. Noire are natural druids that crafted a beautiful spell of melancholy and worship to the chaotic Earth.

  40. Sumerlands
    by Sumerlands
    Blind Blind
I used a Tom Selleck gif to win this record at this competition:

But hey, fret not! It's not a standalone 80s worshipping record. This is a bangin' piece of music, with plenty of riffs and melodies that can satisfy the truest of the metalheads and charm the outsiders at equal.

  41. Earth Diver

Daughter of Void Daughter of Void
An inmense wall of touching melodies and powerful rhythms that circles the nature of things. Expressive, emotive and epic at the same time. Such a fine recording!

  42. Heartwork (Full Dynamic Range Edition)
    by Carcass
This Mortal Coil This Mortal Coil
A pillar in the mix of extreme sounds and melodies. One of my favorite records of all time due all the musicianship, crisp production and smart songcrafting. This FDR edition just takes this to a whole new level.

One of the few sludgy inspired records I truly enjoy. The heavyness of their string section is palpable.

  44. Slaughter of the Soul (Full Dynamic Range Edition)
    by At The Gates
    Cold Cold
The legendary record that started a fire.

Song after song of unquestionable rage. Very different of the rest of the band's output, but it's still a piece of history that is celebrated for what it is: a fine slab of berserker attitude.

    H/t to Gvrp, reader of @ToiletOvHell #MetalBandcampGiftClub
  45. Hammers of Blasphemy
    by Disevered
    Celestial Flesh Celestial Flesh
Sick, disgusting slice of death metal influenced by delicious crust. Sick vocals, sick drumming, sick riffing, sick bass.
