A lovely ode to 70s prog, but with all the modern production touches that 70s production giants couldn't do with the tools of the day. Gorgeous sound, fantastic compositions, and pitch perfect performances from a stellar list of prog luminaries. Dave, you really did it right.
James already knows i love this album in an obscene fashion that defies explanation. He knows I'm a Proghead, and yet his angular, edgy alt.rock music just hits so many happy buttons for me. The whole album is wonderful, but I particularly enjoy Shiny Dark Bar, from the spitfire intro to the crunchy chorus to the minimalist guitar solo to the singalong outro. It's a tour de force of post-pop magic.
