  1. Kiss Kicker 99

Kiss Kicker 99 Kiss Kicker 99
Ugh. Buyer beware - this is not a new transfer of the old elements but sounds like a turntable-to-computer recording of the old seven-inch, with multiple artefacts in evidence. The volume levels waver at times, and you can hear the analogue noise floor/popping through the music. Great songs from a great band, but they deserve a far better presentation than this.

The volume also hurts the dynamic range. This needs a good remixing and more love and care.

Remastered. I remember buying this album in 1995 on CD and having a hard time with the very limited range.
Now, in 2022, I have the remastered version, and it is like I am hearing the album for the first time. I know that sounds like hyperbole. It is not. I have even loaded FLAC files of this release and my copy of the original CD, put them side by side. The proof is in the breadth of the frequency meter.

Anyway, awesome album. If you are new to ultra-slow doom, start with this.

Yanomamo - Dig 2 Graves Yanomamo - Dig 2 Graves
Yanomamo are as on top of their game as ever. The funny thing is, they are even more intense live. They are nice guys, but watching Scott and Jason on stage is intense.
This is also my first experience of Slomatics. Based on this split, it is not going to be my last.
  5. Dead of Winter
    by Left Hand Solution
Seeing LHS release anything always gets my attention. They are getting better with every release. Yes, it is short. No, it never feels too long.
  6. Jolene

You know when a band or artist takes a song that is so antithetical to them and improves said song to such an extent that the original sounds like a baby pounding on a toy piano by comparison? Well, this is one of those times.

It makes me happy to see an old, obscure classic release from the 1990s saved by Bandcamp.
