  1. The Ambient Mixes
    by Kaya Project
    featured track 00:00/00:00
Walking Through (Ambient Mix) Walking Through (Ambient Mix)
Such deep musicality on this album! Each track contains enough great ideas to make one's head spin, but... somehow all these ideas are contained, reined in, so that you get ample time to admire them. This is a great chillout album, and I would recommend it to anyone. (Even if they're not into Kaya Project at all.)
  2. Radio Universe
    by ASURA
    featured track 00:00/00:00
    Overture Overture
Majestic, immersive and exciting ambient/psychill album. It has the hallmark cinematic sound of Ultimae Records, but adds a layer of grit under the dreamy synths. And when the laid-back beats kick in towards the later songs, this album is in a league almost of it's own. Highly addictive...
  3. Time Traveller EP
    by Charlie Roscoe
    featured track 00:00/00:00
    Part 1 Part 1
An excellent selection of location recordings and instruments livens up a lush and spacey atmosphere in this mystical ambient piece. Strangely, it never felt like half an hour to me... instead it took me on a voyage beyond space and time. A truly magnificent work for lovers of long-form ambient.
  4. Time Equals Eternity
    by SIEBZEHN
    featured track 00:00/00:00
    The Calling The Calling
Don't be fooled by the cover... This is deeply psychedelic chillout music of the highest order. From the synthesizer backgrounds that ooze atmosphere into your ears, to the beautiful melodies, arpeggio's and the beats that support it all, this album shows that Siebzehn knows what the genre is all about. Sometimes the mixes are a bit bass-heavy and reverb-smitten, but apart from that I don't see anything to fault here. Quite the opposite in fact - there's much to love here!
  5. Wanderlust
    by Der Waldläufer
    featured track 00:00/00:00
    Flores Flores
Very musical, melodic and emotional ambient/chillout. Sometimes there's a hint of shoegaze, but it's never depressing: generally the tone is very positive. Great sounds, cinematic soundscapes, smooth mixing... This guy knows where he's going, and I'm looking forward to his next releases. One of the most personal and original ambient albums I've ever heard.
  6. Nateace
    by Der Waldläufer
    featured track 00:00/00:00
    Great Plains Great Plains
Passionate, sensitive, and highly imaginative electronic chillout album. Calming my mind and touching my soul, this is more than just music to me. Der Waldläufer reaches out and gets through on a very deep level. I love this dearly.
  7. Mantram
by Steve Roach, Byron Metcalf & Mark Seelig
    featured track 00:00/00:00
Mantram - part one Mantram - part one
Cosmic soundscapes, swirling flutes and ritual percussion team up to create this hypnotic tribal ambient concoction. To some, this album might sound uneventful. To others, it represents a musical universe to explore at their leisure. Personally, I find that it exudes a meditative and healing atmosphere, without ever being boring or too repetitive. Truly the hallmark of great (ambient) musicianship!
  8. Gaia Sophia
    by Entheogenic
    featured track 00:00/00:00
Love Letters To The Soul Love Letters To The Soul
I want to write a review but I can't. I'm too stunned by this musical trip and my cognitive functions have become unreliable. It's magic.
  9. Liberation
    by Whitebear
    featured track 00:00/00:00
    Cizin Cizin
Bass Heads Unite! This is some of the craziest and frantically chopped Psystep ever to grace my ears. Glitches, scratches, tape stops... Definitely some Suomi influences! But instead of pure madness, these tracks are governed by the Tesla basses and the stern beats. Sure to stir up the dancefloor.
  10. Symphonica Helvetica
    by Horizontal Excursions
    00:00/00:00
    Symphonica Helvetica Symphonica Helvetica
Warm, spacey and majestic. In these 35 minutes the composer takes us through a few different emotions and tempi, just like a symphony would. It's all expertly crafted and blended into a coherent experience. I've listened to this many times and it never loses it's charm. I think this is a masterpiece.
  11. Light Years
    by Stellardrone
    featured track 00:00/00:00
    Red Giant Red Giant
Magnificent, swirling vortices of grand emotions. Hints of space music, Berlin school, shoegaze - but very accessible. All blended into the musical cauldron that is Stellardrone. Add to that a warm, full bodied mix and mastering, and you end up with this masterpiece. I love this album more, the more I listen to it. I'm highly impressed.
  12. 2145
    by Sabled Sun
    featured track 00:00/00:00
    Intro Intro
Dark, brooding and unsettling. This story wants you to know that it doesn't have a happy ending. That there won't be time to catch your breath. And that it's always on your heels. I normally cannot stand dark ambient or it's siblings, but this commanded my attention with it's spectacular execution. If you ask me, it's the artist's magnum opus.
  13. Disciple
    by Mark Seelig
    featured track 00:00/00:00
Call of the Divine (based on Raga Bihag) Call of the Divine (based on Raga Bihag)
Mixing traditional indian Raga's with ambient textures and pads, this is one of the most original world fusion albums that I know of. Meditative Bansuri playing by Mark Seelig, supporting drones by Steve Roach, and percussion by Byron Metcalf - if these names mean anything to you, you know it can't go wrong. In my opinion it's pure bliss.
  14. Time By The River
    by KUBA
    featured track 00:00/00:00
We Can Still Learn We Can Still Learn
Emotional, inspired and eclectic crossover between dub, chillout and lounge. This album celebrates the joy of musicality in it's own special way. I always feel comfortably moved and gently spaced-out by listening to this album. Powerful!
  15. Kerala Dream
    by Shamans Dream
    featured track 00:00/00:00
Invocation to Water Invocation to Water
Indian instruments and singing combined with slightly dubby basslines, delay effects, percussion and drums. Enchanting and light-footed, this album never screams for attention. Nevertheless, it is filled with so much intricate detail and musical craftsmanship, that it effortlessly takes me to another place. One of my favorite lounge albums of all time.
  16. The Planets
    by Neue
    featured track 00:00/00:00
    Mars Mars
Impressionistic synthesizer poems that somehow keep reminding me of Debussy's La Mer - but then taken into the future. Lyric and adventurous, each of these pieces evokes different space scenes in my mind. Give this a try if you'd like to see a sci-fi movie without images.
  17. Hibernation: Delta
    by J.S. Epperson
    featured track 00:00/00:00
Bonus: Quick Refresh Bonus: Quick Refresh
Such warm, enveloping sounds... This music sounds like a luxurious bed. The 60 minute version of this is intended for inducing sleep. Yet somehow I never even doze off while I'm listening to this... I like it far too much for that!
  18. RED
    by Solar Fields
    featured track 00:00/00:00
Jeezlh - Remastered Jeezlh - Remastered
Stitched together from different pieces, this album still sounds like a coherent experience. From little hints of shoegaze attitude, over dark and mysterious soundscapes, to nervous rhythmic pieces, there is a narrative quality to it all that is unique to Solar Fields. Very glad to have this compilation!
  19. BLUE
    by Solar Fields
    featured track 00:00/00:00
Life - Remastered Life - Remastered
A collection of more beat-oriented chillout tracks from the master. As usual we get the slow and crafty buildups and breakdowns, but this time all the songs have a definite, lively beat. Therefore most of these tracks would feel right at home on the chilled out dancefloor. My favorite of the RGB collection, exciting stuff!
  20. Cluster
    by Solar Fields
    track 00:00/00:00
An ethereal soundscape slowly but surely gets layered with more melodic and thematic elements. The main theme is a memorable one - I cannot get it out of my head! Supported by a really slow burning and intriguing breakbeat, this is a great chillout track for horizontal settings.
  21. Puzzle
    by Solar Fields
    track 00:00/00:00
A few iconic melodic motives are played against each other in this epic chillout track. The fat, deep bassline and the slow, cutting breakbeat form the perfect guides for a deliciously rich sounding track. And as usual for Solar Fields, the buildup and breakdown of this song are just as exciting as the main dish. Fabulous.
  22. Unknown Presence (Origin 2008)
    by SOLAR FIELDS
    track 00:00/00:00
This must be the sound of soaring. Majestic, soft layers of synthesizer pads, on top of an unobtrusive, slow rhythm. If I had any criticism on this beautiful ambient track, it would be that I want it to be longer!
  23. Light Control
    by SOLAR FIELDS
    track 00:00/00:00
A deep, somewhat buzzing drone carries a calm soundscape built of string pads, filter sounds, and some FX. Ever evolving, always beyond our grasp, this ambient track is over before you know it.
  24. Polarity
    by SOLAR FIELDS
    track 00:00/00:00
Like electricity incarnate, this track is full of tingling, crackling and fizzing sounds. Even the drone beneath this ambient track sounds like it could be a ground loop, or the sound of a broken TL lamp. Very special atmosphere, I love it!

  25. Water Silence
    by SOLAR FIELDS
    track 00:00/00:00
You wouldn't know it from the opening, but this dangling collection of atmospheric sounds assembles itself into a really nice deep trance track. At 120 BPM, this could seriously get some feet moving on the chillout dancefloor.
  26. Sema Yaka
by Kaya Project featuring Randolph Matthews
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
Sema Yaka (Ambient Mix) Sema Yaka (Ambient Mix)
I really love how Kaya Project can sound so casual and loungy, yet at the same time offer emotional depth and sonic bliss for listeners who care. These qualities are abundantly clear in the Ambient Mix, which is (by far) my favorite track of the bunch.
  27. Distances
    by H.U.V.A. NETWORK
    track 00:00/00:00
A repetitive, minimal synthesizer sequence serves as backdrop for this hypnotic ambient track. Soft, soaring pads and a deep, slow kick make for a delicate atmosphere. An understated, delicious masterpiece.
  28. Hug
    by Aes Dana
    track 00:00/00:00
Achingly beautiful and peaceful ambient intermezzo with whispered narration. Sprinkled with flute and nature sounds. Gives me goosebumps!
  29. Chinese Radio
    by PUFF DRAGON
    track 00:00/00:00
This is a top-notch chillout track, aimed at the dancefloor. With a steady 92 BPM beat, a pulsating bassline, and a host of really nice samples, this track is sure to set a euphoric mood. About as exciting as chillout could be, back in 2003.
  30. Reactive - Free Search
    by Sentimony Records
    track 00:00/00:00
What a weird marvel. This ambient track assembles a few distinct atmospheres and seems to throw them into a blender. What we get is not the end product, but the blending itself. Noisy, random and swirling. A musical trip with a lot of movement, I like it very much.

  31. Universalis
    by Astronaut Ape
    track 00:00/00:00
I accidentally stumbled upon this track on Ektoplazm, and was instantly in love. I couldn't (and still can't) stop myself from listening to it in a loop! In fact, this track rekindled my interest in electronic music after a hiatus of about a year... Fantastic kazoo-like filter sounds, chopped voice, bell-like melodies and a deep and relaxed beat come together to make one of my personal favorite tracks of all time. A big thank you to the artist for making this!

  32. Dreams
    by Astronaut Ape
    track 00:00/00:00
For almost five minutes, this psychill track keeps building up energy, achingly working it's way towards a climax and a beat that never comes. Wonderfully somptuous synthesizer sounds, dreamy use of effects, and generally very well crafted.

  33. Sweetness
    by SUDUAYA & IRINA MIKHAILOVA
    track 00:00/00:00
The sound of ecstasy and bliss... This chillout masterpiece lasts for almost 13 minutes, and when it's over I want to hear it again. Beautiful atmospheres, a beat that invites my feet to dance, and angelic singing all combined into something really special. I can't get over how good this is.
  34. Tsixlionta
    by Dimmat
    track 00:00/00:00
Opening with a distorted soundscape that vaguely reminds of rain, thunder and frogs, slowly but surely we are introduced to this track's quirky background sounds and downtempo rhythms. About halfway through, the track really develops into an understated but swinging dancefloor marvel.
  35. The Great Alignment
    by Kaminanda
    track 00:00/00:00
Classy mystic ambient track. This adventure is filled to the brim with great sound design, a diversity of vocal and percussion samples, location recordings, ethnic instruments, and slow, shamanic percussion. I'm always slightly baffled and awe-inspired when listening to this.
  36. Eguana - Confrontation Of Religions
    by Eguana
    track 00:00/00:00
Seriously psychedelic ambient adventure... The electronic drone already makes me feel like floating in the void while the voices, singing and chanting evoke an exciting feeling of reverence, marvel and wonder. Bizarre and majestic, something for the adventurous psychill lover.

  37. Transition
    by rigzin
    track 00:00/00:00
Soft, caressing flow in this ethnic chillout track. While it expresses some degree of sadness, it also feels like a warm and well-meant hug. At the same time it encourages my mind to float away to quieter places...
  38. Coming Down
    by Rasiya
    track 00:00/00:00
Acoustic masterpiece of a song with voice, guitar, tabla's and sitar. Calming, cozy and hopeful atmosphere. Like arriving at a friends place after a long and eventful journey, and knowing that everything will be ok.

  39. Beluga
    by ZEN BABOON
    track 00:00/00:00
Soooo lounge, so smooth, so warm. This chillout track is like a colourful, soft, silk blanket. It caresses my senses and drowns my soul in bliss. This really stands head and shoulders above the crowd. Quite an achievement!
  40. Pe Na Praia
    by ZEN BABOON
    track 00:00/00:00
This lounge track feels like a nice day at a sandy beach. Mild temperatures, a slight breeze, friends around, and nothing to worry about... Really nice interaction between Rhodes and guitar, with a smooth atmospheric background.
  41. Aurum Khôra
    by Holosonos
    track 00:00/00:00
Starting off with spacey harp arpeggio's and some relaxed flute playing, this track soon adds glitch guitar and a cosy dub backdrop. Quite jazzy with a pinch of rock - serve chilled. This track makes me feel happy every time :-)

  42. Atesh (Hoehle Rmx)
    by Master Margherita
    track 00:00/00:00
Top notch arrangement, fantastic sound collage, and a great feeling to the drums. An eastern mystic atmosphere sets this one apart. Massively repetitive and hypnotic - what more can you ask for in a dub track? :-)
  43. Empty Cities
    by Hibernation
    track 00:00/00:00
Broken dub soundscape with sci-fi bubbling, swooshing sounds opens up to a relaxed, cinematic and rather groovy chillout track.

  44. Funky Guru
    by Prem Joshua
    track 00:00/00:00
Feelgood funky Idian world fusion. This happy-go-lucky track features a really nice bassline, an unobtrusive tabla pattern, and sweetly cool singing and flute playing. The sun always shines when this track is playing.

  45. Brambles - Pink And Golden Billows ( Strië Remix)
    by Strië
    track 00:00/00:00
Unintelligible and vague, the sounds in this ambient piece come from far, far away. Still, they seem to tell a story. Bit by bit, piece by piece, we get an impressionistic picture of an alien shoreline, where mercury waves crash on a metallic beach. Very dreamy.
