OWN really comes into their... own by the midway point of their debut album, with sprawling, spacious epics that hearken back to the 70s heyday of psychedelic rock, with their unique twist to bring it all to the modern day.
Don't let the heavy, lumbering beginning of 'Helium' fool you - by far my favourite here - for beyond the raw opening lie interludes of subtly textured soundscapes, chilled-out, spaced-out riffs, and beautiful vocal harmonies punctuated, and sometimes layered with the bristling raw power and emotion of Andrew's tortured, visceral screams.
Definitely something you need a good pair of headphones and a big chunk of time to sit back and relax with, but worth the endeavour as OWN take you with them on a magical journey.
