  1. The Mess We Make
    by Sarah Donner
  2. New Century: Let Them Go
    by Alexander Shaw
Light of the Past Light of the Past
This latest addition to the New Century series serves as a sort of prequel or alternative starting point for those just starting the series.

Unlike the anthology of The Cartographer's Handbook, this follows a small cast of characters on as they live through the inciting events of this worldwide catastrophe, leaving much of the world-building for later and focusing on these people.

Fans of good character drama, ghost stories, period pieces and suspense will all find plenty to love here. Superb!

  4. New Century: Arlington
    by Alexander Shaw
    The Colonel The Colonel
This fourth volume of New Century delves much more deeply into characters we have heard about in the series to this point but have not actually met or spent much time with until now.

This entry feels like more of a historical political thriller and reminds me most of Harry Turtledove's use of historical characters in his fiction.

Fans of alternative history (particularly Turtledove) should greatly enjoy this one.
    Recommended!
  5. New Century: Tiger's Eye
    by Alexander Shaw
Temple of the Fire Lion Temple of the Fire Lion
This third volume of New Century is a bit of an abrupt change in setting from the first two books, with an all new world and characters.

However, in my opinion, this is not only the best book in the series, but one that can be enjoyed fully even with no prior knowledge of the other books

It has something of a slow build, but by the end I was on the edge of my seat.

I cannot recommend it highly enough. Check it out - you won't be disappointed!
  6. New Century: The Cartographer's Handbook
    by Alexander Shaw
The First Year The First Year
A captivating anthology and a strong start to a fantastic ongoing series!

The many different small stories also give the Handbook as a whole a great deal of value on repeat visitations, either in its entirety or just with one or two of the stories. While they all exist in the same world, the lack of a linear narrative between them means that you can revisit them in any order. Highly recommended!
  7. New Century: The Princess Thieves
    by Alexander Shaw
Outlaws and Awakening Outlaws and Awakening
This fifth volume of New Century, like the third, takes place in a new setting with different characters from those we have followed to date.

This story is more of a fantasy adventure tale, with strong comedic and meta elements reminiscent of The Princess Bride (given the title, surely not a coincidence).

As with The Princess Bride, the humor is never at the expense of the emotional heart of the story and it delivers a satisfying conclusion.

    Have fun storming the castle!
  8. New Century: Secret Rooms
    by Alexander Shaw
The Old Timer The Old Timer
This second volume of New Century takes the world established in the first volume (The Cartographer's Handbook) and deepens the world as any sequel should.

More suspense than in the first entry and one of the strongest entries to date in the series. Tightly paced and very engaging.

Fans of science fiction, H.P Lovecraft or supernatural thrillers in general will find much to love here. James Penrose in particular is a favorite of mine. Highly recommended!

Lady Of Worlds Lady Of Worlds
I listen to "Lady of Worlds" over and over again. The vocals, the melody - it's amazing. If you like The Witcher series and you haven't heard this, fix that.

If you don't know The Witcher, listen anyway.
  11. The Moment
    by Miracle Of Sound
I want to see more collaborations between Gav and Karliene. This song is fantastic and feels very Wonder Woman.
  12. I Follow the Moon
    by Malukah
Enchanting and full of emotion, Malukah at her best (which is saying something)

All As One All As One
I enjoy "All as One" from Dragon Age, "Messing with the Best" from Bayonetta and "Wake the White Wolf" from The Witcher, among others. Hard to pick a favorite on this excellent album.
