  1. Of Violence
    by Town Portal
Soil To Own Soil To Own
Town Portal never disappoints. I feel in love with The Occident years back, and this continues their trajectory of excellence. I'm a sucker for odd metering and metric modulation, and this album tickles that fancy. Soil To Own somehow grooves hard like that one Herbie Hancock track, but has the rigidity of your high school calc exam. Figure that one out.

Chaotic. Digestible. Freaky. Heavy. Sporadic. Yup, you got it.

    Rosewood Rosewood
Mike Stringer can do no wrong. I love his work here, same with Spiritbox. Brent Rodgers put on one of my favorite drum performances for this record. Overall, a perfect mix of technicality, agression, groove, and "they didn't have to go this hard, but they did for us."
  17. Air
    by Astronoid
    Air Air
Such a breath of fresh........air. Every song has moments sure to get stuck in your head. Brett and Co. do phenomal work here, putting the best elements of ambience, speed, blast beats, righteous guitar work, texture, and hooks to create new sonic textures.
  18. Melting Sun
    by Lantlôs
Melting Sun IV: Jade Fields Melting Sun IV: Jade Fields
This is what beautiful sounds like when it put's on it's best outfit and feels the confidence of 1,000 suns exploring spring for the first time in a decade. Such a cathartic ride. I didn't know I could empathize with a guitar tone until this album hit my ears.
