    by Down Like Silver
    Wolves Wolves
Really lovely piece of indie folk, simultaneously sparse and poignant, minimalist yet utterly resounding. Peter Bradley Adams and Caitlin Canty have a stunning vocal style together, similar to Angus and Julia Stone but with a little less fragility, and their emotive vocals are backed by graceful instrumental accompaniment.

    by James Apollo
    White Line White Line
Gritty indie country-rock from the deserts where the sun goes to sleep. This album has the atmosphere of a lovesick cowboy and the slow burn of a cigarette on the steering wheel of a dusty Cadillac.
  13. Meridian
    by Pinegrove
    Recycling Recycling
Uncontained indie rock with Evan Stephens Hall’s crooning vocals leading the charge. Heavy on the cymbal. I’d love to hear acoustic versions of their songs.

  15. The Glowing Heart
    by Nick Foster
Love at Your Door Love at Your Door
The kind of music that makes me think of the red stage lights and empty glasses of smoky bars gone by. This album carries you on a journey.
  16. Home
    by The Novel Ideas
    Running Speed Running Speed
Country-folk album with some really moving tracks. The steel guitar is ever-present, lit with a sliding electric in the background and carried forward by the rhythm of the snare.
  17. Darker Nights
    by Wind In Sails
  18. Threadbare
    by Boreal Sons
    Ingrid Ingrid
Piano-led rock outfit with intricate vocals and sweeping music arrangements. Their songs feel like rainy afternoons and empty cups of coffee.
  19. Ramshackle Redemption Vol. 1
    by Next Church Band
    Stained Glass Stained Glass
I love the vocals and set of instruments, but what really makes this album great is the humble gospel message, focused on justice and mercy and that too-often untold story of ramshackle redemption.
  20. Struggle Pretty
    by Penny and Sparrow
    Rattle Rattle
Texas-based duo graced with moving lyricism and talent in balancing minimalist instrumentation. The strings and percussion call to mind the atmospheric style of Bon Iver and Milo Greene. Deeply personal and heartbreakingly honest.
