Tony Williams said in 1970 his music couldn't sound like horses (like Beethoven´s) or locomotives (like swing) anymore, the basic contemporary movement/basis was much more akin to the sound of a concorde or ventilator. 20 years later Autechre were among the first artists to take Moore's Law and CPU driven processes seriously musically. Not many current improvising virtuosos have embraced this idea of contemporaryness. In contrast, this great duo stays true to the idea of avantgarde.
