Impossible to pick a favorite Converge album, but this one manages to stand out for me - fantastic balance between headlong, breakneck chaos and lurching riffs.
In the hands of lesser musicians a project like this would sound gimmicky, but Slugdge manages to infuse their proggy death metal with a distinct flavor that authentically evokes the imagery & aesthetics of Lovecraftian gastropods.
