Really hard to pick a favorite track. Divitius has come barreling out of the gate with a super-strong debut that encompasses a broad mixture of influences, while still maintaining a cohesive and technical sound. Props to this band. I will be watching their growth and career with great interest.

Outpour I. II. III. Outpour I. II. III.
This band is a breath of fresh air as far as doom metal is concerned. The progressive and jazz elements are a nice touch. Definitely something worth listening to if you're looking for something different. Picked up the CD due to the brilliant album artwork. I hope they put this out on vinyl at some point!
  4. Dim and Slimeridden Kingdoms

Pellet In The Head Pellet In The Head
Once again, the lads in Slugdge have outdone themselves (and everyone else)! There are so many good things to say about this, I don't know where to start...

Matt and Kev have really done it this time. I'm sure I'll say that about the next record, too, with the way these two crank out quality tunes! This album is a MUST-BUY for any extreme metal fan! It goes to show that you truly make your best art by being yourself and going wherever the music takes you.
  5. Chained Warriors
    by Life After Hours
    00:00/00:00
    My Calling My Calling
It's impossible for me to pick a "favorite" song on this album. Everything hits hard and sticks with you. An excellent blend of Hardcore, Crust Punk, Metalcore, Grindcore, and Crossover styles! I've been a fan of Life After Hours for a long time, and this album shows their maturity and growth as a band, as well as an evolution of their style. They certainly haven't forgotten their roots, but they have progressed to a point where they are an unstoppable musical force! Buy this album NOW!!!!

This is the band Fear Factory wishes it was. Hands down, one of the best industrial metal albums I've heard in years! I can't get enough of this band's material, and I am eagerly awaiting the next record!

  9. Home Is Where The Hatred Is
    by Primitive Man
    00:00/00:00
    Bag Man Bag Man
Down and dirty. Disgustingly heavy. Once again, Primitive Man delivers its signature brand of sludgy, blackened doom metal with no apologies and crushes the listener with the force of a stampeding herd of elephants. Anxiously awaiting the next release!

Nasty stuff on this split! Both bands cranked out some stellar shit. Really have to hand it to the dudes in Crucial Rip! Sick drumming and unforgiving riffs! Grab this and let the slam overtake you!

  31. The Scene Is Dead
    by Rob Scallon
    00:00/00:00
Gateways (solo by Jeff Loomis) Gateways (solo by Jeff Loomis)
Rob Scallon has gone to great lengths to show that the 9-string guitar is for so much more than breakdowns, binary djent riffs, and ridiculous sweep arpeggios. This is a great, multi-dimensional instrumental metal album with excellent song-writing and some brilliant solos from some great players. Definitely worth picking up!

Some might call this a novelty. Some might call it outlandish. I call it GRINDCORE. Can't wait to see what else GRINDMOTHER cranks out in the years to come. Don't we all wish we could record a record as good as this one with our own mothers?
  36. Defect Copy

    00:00/00:00
Sleeping in the Ashes Sleeping in the Ashes
Lots of influences are brought to the table with the debut EP from young Norwegian extreme metal band, Eodon. Talented group of dudes with a bright future ahead of them. Brings old school death metal to the forefront of my mind, especially in the guitar tone. 100% recommend supporting! Killer material!

I've never been a fan of the whole "djent" movement. Most of it is trendy nonsense. Not so with this band. Monster riffs, killer production, and bombastic lead guitar playing. I can't find anything I inherently dislike about this record or this band's sound. Definitely worth a listen (or several)!
