    by Tuba Skinny
I just saw Tuba Skinny this weekend on their 10th anniversary and celebrating the release of this new CD during French Quarter Festival. They played all of these songs live this weekend. the band is better than ever and this is their best CD yet.

  7. Blue Chime Stomp

Broken Hearted Blues Broken Hearted Blues
The new Tuba Skinny CD is out! Once again we are treated to an original composition as the album title and Shaye Cohn proves that not only is she one of the best cornet players in New Orleans, but also a first rate composer of "traditional" jazz tunes. My favorite tracks are the Merline Johnson classic "Runnin' Down My Man" and "Broken Hearted Blues" (with a little Fats Domino influence). We not only get to hear Erika, but also Shaye on piano and Jon Doyle on saxophone.
  8. One Drink Minimum

    Bogalusa Strut Bogalusa Strut
I am usually not a fan of live albums because of the less than optimal acoustics and crowd noise. But for Shotgun Jazz Band I will make an exception. Having seen them several times on Frenchmen St. I can attest that this CD captures the authentic atmosphere of their live performance. They are a high energy band and Marla is the consummate live performer. Her showmanship makes Shotgun stand out from other Frenchmen St. bands. And the rhythm section of John and Twerk drive the band.
  9. Rag Band

    Climax Rag Climax Rag
New Orleans Bump, Climax Rag, and Jackson Stomp are my favorite tracks on this CD. This is not their strongest effort in my opinion, but it still is worthy of your $. Can't wait for the next CD which is past due. I hope and pray that Erika's leaving New Orleans is only temporary. A breakup of Tuba Skinny would break my heart in two.

Shaye has never sounded better on cornet. Saw Tuba Skinny at d.b.a. recently and Shaye was flawless. If you love this music you have to see them live!

Can't get me enough Tuba Skinny! Will be making a trip to N.O. later this month just to see TS at dba. Can't wait to see and hear Shaye and Erika. Be still my heart!!

i can't get enough of Shaye Cohn on cornet. So tasty! It is remarkable that young and talented musicians like this are keeping this music alive. Thank you Tuba Skinny!

Sweet Lovin Old Soul Sweet Lovin Old Soul
This is my favorite TS album. Strong and bluesy vocals by Erika on "Hesitation Blues", "Gimme Some", and "Sweet Lovin Old Soul". And Shaye has to be the best traditional jazz cornet player alive.
