Delightful fuzzy power pop with a hint of Velocity Girl.

Pingrove's second full-length remains a steady course of folksy twangy insightful musicianship. Evan is a lovelorn wordsmith who has a knack for authoring compelling lyrics and blessed with the singing chops to boot. Nice revised renditions of Size of the Moon and New Friends as the album's closing.

Whole In My Head Whole In My Head
Thank you Josiah for remastering one of the greatest albums of the mid-90s and giving it a fuller richer sound. Motorhome was part of the indelible mid-90s Chicago music scene that included the likes of UO, Jesus Lizard, and the Wesley Willis Fiasco. Sex Vehicle is a utter sonic delight and does not disappoint.

  6. Red Reflection
    by Underpass
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
    Whitest Light Whitest Light
Underpass has created something superbly distinct while paying homage to 80s New Wave-Goth. The Cure's influence on "Red Reflection" is unmistakable, listen to those guitar progressions and underlying synth. Songs "Another World" and "Whitest Light " would fit in easily in any of the Cure's 80s Canon, particularly 17 Seconds, Faith, or Pornography. This album is the mutt's nuts for fans of this genre.
  7. Let's Pretend It's Summer | デラックスエディション
    by Black Surf
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
    Sink Sink
Black Surf pays homage to 90s US power pop. While Weezer's influence is apparent, "Let's Pretend It's Summer" is much more expansive and exactly the type of album I had dearly hoped for from Weezer after Blue and Pinkerton. Bloody well done.
  8. New Kind of Normal

Too Old for This Too Old for This
These Philly girls can really "rocket it to Russia" and also released New Kind of Normal on their own independent label, Plum Records. Well done ladies. You've made an incredibly enjoyable album. Cheers.

    TV TV
London-based Ghum have released an amazingly constructed guitar-driven first EP which is haunting and powerful as well as shimmering at times. Please give these ladies an undivided listen. You'll be glad you did. I anxiously await to hear what comes next.

  10. American Football (LP2)
    by American Football
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
Where Are We Now? Where Are We Now?
Valiant follow-up to their last and only self-titled release. Although it took them nearly 17 years to make new music again, LP2 is a seamless and greatly appreciated effort.
  11. GP
    by MANNEQUIN PUSSY
    favorite track 00:00/00:00
Someone Like You Someone Like You
MP provides raw punk energy. Straight forward balls out. Classic song structure, short and furious, ending with the humdinger Pissdrinker.
