  1. Doom And Bloom
    by Desmond Doom
    Cold Cold
Has always shown glimpses of being more than a tasteful imitator of styles, but this EP proves it. The first track could easily be a progression of the reverb-heavy goth sound from previous records, but subsequent songs blend in melodic elements of jangle, dreampop and shoegaze. This more expansive craftsmanship has led to a more unique-sounding Desmond Doom, and it's a great listen!
  2. Surf-Goth EP

Now That You're Gone Now That You're Gone
Made with open reverence and respect for its influences, and made really well. Vox ring of Scott Shiflett/Viva Death. All six songs are great, the downside being a) it's hard to pick a favourite, and b) admittedly the EP feels like it's trying to salute all of its forefathers at once. Having demonstrated the proficiency to not just imitate and build upon what came before, a slightly more conceptually-focused record threatens to be a seriously good listen, and I'll be looking out for it.
