The best Vacant release yet. And, that's quite a statement.

    Delicate Delicate
Despite being "heavier" than their previous release (which is an *all time* album for me), this album still has the key elements that make EAB so damn good. Good quality musicianship combined with excellent vibes, songwriting and most of all a CONSISTENT MOOD. Please, Patrick, never stop pushing your voice to the limit, going high occasionally, and doing those runs, it's what keeps me coming back time and again. Get this damn album and blast the fkn thing.

  23. Jacob Ilton
    by Jacob Ilton
    00:00/00:00
    Darlene Darlene
The simple cover, title and lack of advertising and marketing, hide a really powerful and deep narrative here. Jacob's voice is pretty incredible. While the songwriting is similar across the EP, it gives it a nice continuity. It's as emotional as you want it to be, but the track "Darlene" is a powerful composition that undeniably provokes an emotive response from the listeners. It's one of the best songs I've heard all year, and shows the potential Jacob has as a singer-songwriter.

Apology Not Fucking Accepted Apology Not Fucking Accepted
    Banger. That's just it. There's a line:

"... and you'll be a mess when, shit hits the fan"

    It's pretty perfect, really.

Ishmael make very potent math-derived music. It makes me feel an array of emotions.

    00:00/00:00
    Newbury Newbury
There's that extended intro on 'Newbury' ... it hit me really hard. The whole EP is great but there's a few moments that shine so damn bright I had to buy it. I hope other people get even a slither of what i got out of this; because if they did they'll be very pleased.
  28. ...After the Fact
    by Hit Home
    00:00/00:00
    Vernate Vernate
I honestly hate myself for not writing this earlier. This is likely my AotY. The tender moments juxtaposed against, and nurtured within the heavier nucleus of this album just leaves me reeling. The push and pull of the two vocalists also captivates me. It's honestly one of those albums that I'm just thankful for. It's truly sensational.

Couteaux possess so much talent and skill, wrapped neatly in a cocoon of nostalgia, for me. This, and their prior work, are in one way - a lot of fun - and in another, quite marvellous.

Passionate, dense, complex and best of all, personal.

    The best kind of emo-ish/math.

    Automobile Wink Automobile Wink
My absolute AotY in 2015. This thing did not come off of repeat for a solid two months after its discovery. These guys blend so many things I love together. There's twinkly, complex musicianship; there's personal, affecting and passionate lyrics, and best of all, it feels like these guys really have fun playing together. Music that makes me wish I was in a band like this, or that I could even play an instrument. Music that, as always, I'm truly thankful for making me feel truly emotional.

    00:00/00:00
I Do Know and I'm Not Sorry I Do Know and I'm Not Sorry
This album got me through a really rough exam block...

what else is there to say?!
  37. Alpha Waves
    by Enemies
    00:00/00:00
For One Night Only For One Night Only
There's just something about Enemies. There's the technical side of things which is very stimulating, needless to say. Yet, there's something deeper in their music i can't pinpoint but one element is that the musicians clearly love playing music, their kind of music and together. This album and all subsequent releases display that sincerely.

Everything You Ever Wanted Everything You Ever Wanted
Not as lyrically strong as TYC's first release, but this is the new full band and they've done a really really great job with this. Fun and dance-y in parts, and also a bit of that classic Marcus sadness in other parts. I look forward to what these guys do in the future.

Probably one of the best EP's I've ever heard.

Brutally honest and personal. The juxtaposition between the beautiful melodies and technical guitar playing with the narrative of this relationship (or several, who knows) is an incredible feat.
