A funky jam session with apocalyptic and introspective lyrics. Different from previous albums but unmistakably KGLW. Love the flute and sax tones. Would really like to see them use the sax on a metal album.
This album really has it all. Ambergris is really a stand out for me. One of their best songs, not just on this album. Lyrically, it's pure poetry. Other favs are Magenta Mountain, Gaia, Kepler-22b, Garden Goblin, Persistence, Red Smoke, Candles.
the live stuff on KEXP led me here. this one will be on going into long rotation. it's like Thee Oh Sees and King Gizzard had a baby under the Dark Side of the Moon in the French countryside.
Yet another banger of an album smothered, covered, and dripping with beautiful synth tones. Not gonna lie, Ambrose's ethereal singing on Shanghai made me shed a tear.
