Cam Boucher, and the band as a whole, have a way of capturing the precise dark and uncomfortable feelings of depression and make into a melodic masterpiece, at once reassuring and uncomfortably raw.
I've been waiting to be able to download this for months after seeing Understudy live. This isn't the first bitter Christmas song, but it's one of my favorites,
This album is so fantastic that I've cried to my roommate about it. It's self-aware and melodic and loaded with plucked guitar lines that make your heart beat in time as it aches with familiarity and longing. I struggle for words to describe how much I love it.
Saw ML live today for CMJ and loved the energy and sincerity of the songs. It's the sort of sound that just sounds like your best friend wrote it so you love it unconditionally (but also the sort of sound that you'd love anyhow because it's great).
