  12. AD:PIANO VIII -alter-
    by Diverse System
    Glimmer Glimmer
Piano-focused IDM that has such a wide range of styles. Each artist really stretches the topic of "piano" as much as possible in differing dimensions, with some frenetic structures neighboring some compositions closer to a nocturne. No holds are barred, any drum sequencer and pad program goes, which creates dynamic, progressive tracks that end nowhere near where they started.

    Imprinting Imprinting
Strings, stabs, pianos, and a sequenced 4/4 at high bpm. When you need to prove that electronic music married to orchestral arranges can be better then the two separated. But make no mistake, each track is designed to the exact degree of a CNC milling operation, a sort of organic and cybernetic beast with a digital, binary heart that thinks in multiples of two. A unique and scientific IDM.

Beautiful rearrangements of both famous and more niche Touhou themes. Recognizable and every bit as spectacular, but formatted as neutral and open-ended compositions that are great for when you're busy. Electronica to the point it feels fresh, but makes use of piano here and there to soften the blow.
  15. Yesterday
    by No Mana
Happy to see Jordan on Monstercat! As the face of the electro house revival scene, the No Mana alias can do no wrong. Yesterday is spacious, contemplative, and leaves plenty of room to feel buildups.
  16. Voidreckon
    by Mittsies
    Stranded Stranded
A very atmospheric, segmented album with a personal sort of ambience and pacing. Hard to describe, but very rhythmic and smoothly composed.
  17. Helltaker Soundtrack (Complete)
    by Mittsies
Epitomize (VIP Edit) Epitomize (VIP Edit)
Probably the most famous case of Psytrance in a game, ever. Moody, atmospheric, and it feels as massive as carved stonework. No track feels out of place, and this heavy, cavernous echo fills the dead air with a fat kick. However, there's plenty of tone range and melodies can enter some complex measures and chord progressions.
  18. Alchemist
    by Savant
Pirate Bay (Feat. Twistex) Pirate Bay (Feat. Twistex)
Just the sheer craft, detail, attention, and sonic design. Beyond just Complextro. Chiptune melodies, saws, kicks, and little videogame references are stuffed into a heavyweight package with plenty of punch. You can hear Koji Kondo's level clear fanfare in Manslaughter, E-mu's Shakuhachi in Face Off, and a whole song is dedicated to the Konami Code. Alchemist is the soundtrack to whatever you like, and is at heart, a celebration of gaming culture.
  19. Nerds By Nature EP
    by Pegboard Nerds
Talk About It (feat. Desirée Dawson) Talk About It (feat. Desirée Dawson)
This was my second Pegboard Nerds album, and it was then that I knew my music taste. This is a colorful and full EP that shows exactly what Pegboards Nerds is capable of exploring and crafting.
  20. W:/2016ALBUM/
    by deadmau5
    4Ware 4Ware
Although this was panned by critics as "not EDM enough," I hold W:/2016ALBUM/ as one of the most unique and explorative releases by what was a mainstream powerhouse of house music. deadmau5, even if the album has no cohesive order, still has grace and style when it comes to the quality of his music. From a deep and soulful bass to a drawn-out pluck, there's a level of detail everyone should bear witness to.
