This is such a haunting album. It is an immersive soundscape that still maintains itself as being something fully musical, and it strikes a perfect balance between atmospheric and melodic. The tape decay on Black Sea (as well as on Behind these Walls) is some of the most unique examples I’ve heard, yet without taking things so far that it no longer feels like music. The tone is delicately mournful and poignantly beautiful. I wish I could find more artists like this band.
