this album is something of a failure, though an artistic triumph. despite its intended purpose of being YouTube background music, it is far too intricate, engaging, interesting, joyous, and just plain badass to be effective in its intended purpose. this is legit one of my favorite albums of 2020. I come back to it over and over. I first heard "this is not background music" in the background of a video essay and was very distracted by how amazing this music is.
