Further down the nest II Further down the nest II
Although I don't understand any dead sparrow of the Polish language, I always love it when the vocalist of a black metal band uses his/her own language instead of English, it feels like it provides it some extra....soul. And of course there's Google Translate. I never listened to this EP before but it really surprised me. 🤘🎶🖤🎶🤘10/10

  4. Exercises in futility
    by Mgła
Exercises in futility VI Exercises in futility VI
Mikolaj is a real multi-talent in bass as well as guitar as well as vocals and "Darkside" Maciej's drumming is a well-calibrated 100th-of-seconds-clockwork. Not for nothing is Mgla considered as a standard for a lot of other blacker-than-black metal bands. I hope to see this band live once.....
  5. Obtenebrate
    by ENTHRAL
The Gospel Of Woe The Gospel Of Woe
From the same year as With Hearts Towards None by Mgla but with less general appreciation; I don't know why because it has both the same atmosphere and great musicianship and The Gospel Of Woe sounds like Satyricon during the era of Nemesis Divina
  6. Urstrid
    by Urstrid
    Blodhevn Blodhevn
Vandreren (Vocals), Wolthulataz (Guitar, Drums) and Ukfrikr (Bass) are talented musicians; this melodic black metal work is a masterpiece stuffed with addictive cold atmospheres. Listening to this you imagine yourself walking through a dark Norwegian forest, with shadows of the trees, created by the full moon that illuminates the snowy mountains on the background.
If you like the old Satyricon (Dark Medieval Times, The Shadowthrone), listen this and you will buy it! Thank you BMP🤘🎸🎶 9/10

  9. After
    by Ihsahn
On the Shores On the Shores
Vegard Sverre 'Ihsahn' Tveitan proves to be a gifted multi-instrumentalist who can handle all types of music; black metal as well as jazzy arrangements and it wouldn't astonish me if one day he also plays all three episodes of 'Die Mondscheinsonate' on piano, guitar or even saxophone, although on this album it's Jørgen Munkeby who plays the sax...
  10. Трепет
    by Путь (Pathway)
    Символ служения Символ служения
путь is such a band that has it's own style; where else in the world do you hear black metal with an accordeonist?!
Quite a pity that the chance that путь will be able to give a gig here in The Netherlands, is small.
путь comprises of talented musicians and deserves so much better!
And Ignis' rock 'n roll is just.....cool😎
  11. Woe
    by An Abstract Illusion
In The Heavens Above, You Will Become A Monster In The Heavens Above, You Will Become A Monster
After several listens, I just came to one conclusion: This Swedish band is phenomenal and I hope to see them playing live soon!
  12. Time Prisoner
    by moran magal
Days of Yore Days of Yore
Moran Magal is one of those profoundly talented but nevertheless totally overlooked and underrated singer/songwriters; like a diamond that tries to shine in the dark. I hope that with this new album she'll get much more attention than she gets now, she deserves it.
  13. Casus Luciferi
    by Watain
    Casus Luciferi Casus Luciferi
Each album by Erik and his guys is a surprise; the older stuff like this second full length record has that raw "true black metal" sound. It has great quality of songwiting on it. On the later albums (like my personal favorite Sworn...) it's a little bit more polished. Track number 5, I'm The Earth, could be made by Mayhem and that's absolutely not a shame 🤘🤘🤘
  14. Sworn to the Dark
    by Watain
    Stellavore Stellavore
In my opinion STTD is the best album by Erik and his crew; nevertheless all albums by those Swedes are terrific. This, however, is pure eargasm from the musical depths of abyss.....
    BTW: It's Stellarvore, not Stellavore.
  15. Exul
    by Ne Obliviscaris
    Suspyre Suspyre
To be a better progmetal band than good ol' Dream Theater you must be a musical genius. Well, Ne Obliviscaris managed it, congrats!
  16. Black Flame Eternal
    by Cloak
Black Flame Eternal Black Flame Eternal
The first song I ever heard from this band from the Deep South of the USA was Invictus and it surprised me with it's power, strength of composition and great musicianship; later I heard even better tracks. However I don't understand why some people are associating it with black metal, I love this record ⚡🤘🥰🤘⚡
  17. Where the Corpses Sink Forever
    by Carach Angren
  18. Death Came Through a Phantom Ship
    by Carach Angren
...And the Consequence Macabre ...And the Consequence Macabre
This concept album handles about Captain van der Decken, a VOC captain whose ego was so fat that he ignored the objections of his crew about the coming storm, this with deadly consequences.
It's too easy to spit out a bunch of jokes about "de VOC-mentaliteit", one of the greatest stupidities ever made by a former Dutch Prime Minister so I won't ;-). A masterpiece from the deepest catacombs of abyss!!!
  19. Lammendam
    by Carach Angren
Phobic Shadows and Moonlit Meadows Phobic Shadows and Moonlit Meadows
Carach Angren is such a band that succesfully combines black metal with classic, just like Dimmu Borgir and Cradle Of Filth do. Nevertheless CA always goes its own way without stepping in a commercial boobytrap. Quite a pity that drummer Ivo "Namtar" Wijers left the band a couple of years ago; finding a new drummer with his technical skills to produce a new album after Frankesteina Strataemontanus won't be easy I guess; I wish this group a lot of good luck.....
  20. Vesania
    by Demon King
The Gateway Vector The Gateway Vector
Matt, Malcolm and Chason (with the same style of drumming as Jack who quit the band in 2021) show the progressive rock 'n roll world their instrumental and vocal qualities with this new EP. Time to publish their first full length?
