First rate tropical Latin fusion business from the NYC-based 8-piece band, featuring personnel from New York, Peru, Colombia and Venezuela. Heavy on the psych vibes, the record is rooted in salsa and bolero but the electronic twists give it a texture all of its own. Fantastic stuff!!

I actually discovered Diggs Duke via Bandcamp. He self-released a string of EPs through 2012 which blew me away. He takes an avant garde beatmaker's attitude to making soul music. It's an unformulaic approach akin to that of Phil Spectre or Brian Eno… it's Dwele meets Madlib and pianist Andrew Hill - straight-to-the-point, drunken soul with a twist.

Crackly slo-mo funk of the bugged-out variety, emanating out of Manipur, India, but arriving in your ears via the mixing desk of Matthew David (Brainfeeder's maestro of cassette hiss manipulation). Fans of Steve Spacek and Reginald Omas Mamode hit 'BUY'.

Moresounds has been a recent discovery although he has a couple of great EPs under his belt already. Rooted in the skittery freeform patterns of Chicago's footwork sound, the Parisian flexes insane bass weigh and sprinkles generous portions of ragga and jungle spice. The results are pure fire for the dancefloor.

I know very little about these guys - aside from they are a Canadian duo and they make delightfully hazy folk ditties with some lovely electronic touches - but I'm looking forward to hearing more music for sure.

This LA collective have been doing their thing for a few years now… Shlohmo, Groundislava and RL Grime are all founding members whose output you may already be familiar with (plus Stones Throw's Jonwayne is a close affiliate). Anyway, you can always be sure that their output is of the highest quality, as proven here by C.Z. and Arnold on this split release mashing up hip-hop, bass, Jersey Club and a ton of other styles with style and panache.

The stunning debut album from London based avant-pop 4-piece Hejira drops via Matthew Herbert's Accidental imprint, balancing gorgeous vocal harmonies atop finger picked guitar melodies and bustling percussion. Uncomplicated and beautifully arranged, it's such a well executed record. Fans of The Invisible, Hello Skinny, The xx… this is definitely worth checking.

Spooky off-kilter pop vibes from the amazing Perera Elsewhere, formerly of Jahcoozi, now flying solo and releasing her debut album on LA imprint Friends Of Friends. And she's British!! But has been based in Berlin in recent years. TIP!!
