Western Desert sets the kind of mood I enjoy, dreamy, and this time with a warm, southern feel to it. Takes me on a camel ride through the desert, with fata morgana's left and right, from the safety of my own home.
What's not to love? And it seems to have been released on my 27th birthday which makes it all the more special to me :) Although there is nothing I dislike from your music I've always found it memorable in infantile how you have a string of riffs that seem to be repeating but the second time they are slightly different and evolving into the next part of the song only to return near the end of the song. It's probably the constant evolving of the songs that I like so much.
I'm a sucker for a good solo once in a while, so that (+ the lyrical message) in "Beyond the Visible" makes it my favorite song of the album. They've taken one of my favorite aspects of prog-metal (the 'thumping and strange' rhythms) and combined it with a nice ambience. Great job guys!
I love the set up for the songs. Like right before Hard Wired you have this dark melody full of despair, then you have 'the girl' in Hard Wired who makes you want to believe in your cause and after that some fast paced action with renewed hope. Feels like a movie...
