This is right up there with Orual, Crestfallen Usurper and Bask in the Lingering for me. Incredible track, I love the mournful opening and then the ruthless ferocity once it kicks in. Hoping to see this on physical format in the near future. Kinda wish it was included on tape in the boxset. Haunting and epic as always. Liam has done an amazing job at selecting the perfect visual to suit his music and Blial Cabal did an incredible job on the visual for this/The Psalter.

This is dark/black metal at it's absolute finest. Massive and beautiful dark melodies and a killer rythym section. I personally have no tears for Agalloch, this is what I've always wanted. Timeless and pure black metal with a perfect blend of sorrow and anger.

The wait for this second LP by Aureole was one of deep anticipation. MS has created a beautifully focused, atmospheric masterpiece that is heavy in thoughtful concept. Vocally, this offering is a huge departure from where Aureole left off with the Resonance: Crimson Void material (one of my very favorite vocal performances) where those vocals instilled a feeling of dread; the vocals on Aurora Borealis feel painful and distant in a good way. Amazing album.

Crimson Abyss: NGC 2237 Crimson Abyss: NGC 2237
Mare Cognitum has proven to be a flawless entity, not much more needs to be said there. Aureole, however, come through as sort of a newcomer and completely laid waste to everything with this offering. The vocals are the highlight for me: utterly vicious and all devouring, soaring over the massive and haunting melodies and atomospheres. That tremelo riff at 3:19....ruthless. Aurora Borealis can't come soon enough.
