I remember during my first listen thinking "tf that's way too lo-fi, I can't even hear the melody in the background", but then it was like a veil got lifted and the melody showed itself again. I then got reminded of how novels often at first deliberately withhold certain plot elements from the reader and was excited to see something similar applied to music.
