  3. This Must Be The Place
    by Apollo Brown
    Nervous Goodbyes Nervous Goodbyes
Maybe it's in the Oxford, or Webster's, or the Cambridge dictionary, but when I looked up the word "formula", I just knew I would see a picture of Apollo Brown in there...and I didn't. That means that either I have to upgrade to have paid access to see in those upper echelon dictionaries where they have his picture under the entry "formula", or they will need to upgrade their dictionaries!
  4. The Dynasty of Dominique Devereaux
    by INDIGO PHOENYX X KROHME
  5. Persistence
by Rugged Triad X Nivek B
Locked In ft Ry Walker prod by Nique Deville Cuts by Tone Spliff Locked In ft Ry Walker prod by Nique Deville Cuts by Tone Spliff
This jawn is solid! Hard beats, crisp production, scratches, samples, representation from different regions (and countries) on the rhymes, storytelling, personal tributes, homage to the pioneers....my kind of Hip-Hop!
  6. Al Dunya (Side A)
    by INDIGO PHOENYX
  7. Petestrumentals 4
    by Pete Rock
Das Me Da King Das Me Da King
Pete asks us the question on "The Xprt", through the sample of Malcolm X's voice, "Who taught you to hate your own kind (and by extension, your own self)?" Well, if that is what you learned, then this project is here to teach you to unlearn it, and love yourself, and love your soul, because of the love that will be poured into it by listening to this project! Every wonderful feeling in life that you've experienced that is relatable to music is captured here. Soul Brother #1, you did it again!
  8. PRODUCED BY BUMPY KNUCKLES VOL.2
    by Various
    HOLY SPIRIT HOLY SPIRIT
If we were to make an analogy of Hip Hop being like the COVID-19 virus, then this project by Bumpy Knuckles would be the equivalent of a safe vaccine! Not the kind that the govt. administered by emergency use authorization, but one that has been tested for its safety and effectiveness. This project bangs all the way through! I set my favorite track as "Holy Spirit", but that braggadocio rhyming using historical references and figures on "Sparta" is that work! Salute Pop Duke!
  9. J-LIVE -vs- EVERYTHING
    by J-LIVE
  10. Blacklight
    by Apollo Brown & Stalley
    Broad Spectrum Broad Spectrum
Fire, fire, fire, all the way through! Solid production, superstar guests, and real stories from the heart that's designed to make you "stay woke and stay dangerous", how real G's are supposed to deliver! Salute!

    LISTEN CAREFULLY LISTEN CAREFULLY
Bumpy represents what it means to be true to the culture, because as you listen to this, you expect to hear hard lyrics all the way through from him, but we hear Bumpy Knucks on a few tracks (hard, as expected), and as a stellar cast of true emcees hold it down on the mic that is guarded (and if you try to touch it, Bump told you what would happen; think the headless horseman 😂), we get to see Bumpy showcase his production skills, true to the boom bap ritual. Salute!
  15. All The Brilliant Things

  17. Bushido
    by Mello Music Group
  18. Queen's Gambit prod by Kencussion
    by Indigo Phoenyx
Beats and bars always bonkers, but this track sounds as if it could have been mixed and mastered a little better.
  19. Between Da Protests [EXTENDED EDITION]
    by KRS-ONE
    Medu Neter Medu Neter
You're seriously asking me to set a favorite track for the T'Cha?! How about his WHOLE career as an MC as my selection, how about that?! 😂 Salute to the G.O.A.T., and you can start your lists after you acknowledge that!
  20. DE2: Sand The Floor
    by Dueling Experts
Fight The Moon Fight The Moon
Verbal Kent mentioned at least 3 times on this album to get off his lawn, which is an indication that he's moved into a more plush neighborhood as a result of rhyme expertise, and well deserved and earned! Whatever and whoever he and Recognize Ali didn't lyrically kill on DE1, they doubled back to make sure there is no one left to tell a story on DE2! Side note: "No Sensei" should have been a full song.
