  16. Words On The Wind
    by Low Rent
    00:00/00:00
    This Tide This Tide
Words on the wind is full of strong country expressions and arrangements. The emotional vocals surge forth with a desire to express feelings that have searched for an outlet over vast expanses of starlit skies. The instruments support the vocals with their own expressions, united in the drive to celebrate the connection of music and lyricism. Low Rent's awesome rocking country pub boot stompers alow the sensitive gem This Tide to flourish as my favourite.
  17. Everybody Wants To Be Free
    by The Bitter Sweethearts
    00:00/00:00
    Too Long Too Long
At first listen you might mistake this album as another friday night country pub rock collection of anthems for mates to sing along to. Once you delve beneath the catchy melodies and hooks you find an abundance of intricate and intelligent forays into skillful musicality and sensitive lyrics. A bands dynamic is the true test of their brilliance, here Too Long, the slower and sparser track, proves the sincerity of the bands commitment to their craft. The album delivers on its title statement.

  19. Chasing Winter EP
by Lucas Paine w/ The Cutting List
    00:00/00:00
    Sally Away Sally Away
The honesty of these compositions and dedication of their delivery is the first impression that strikes me about Lucas Paines expressions. Folk music is often created to describe character and place with the intent of connecting with the listener, here we are given the opportunity to experience music created without the intent to impress, but I suspect, for gratefulness of dwelling in life. Chasing Winter reminds us of the unique experience of an organic voice, intended for nature.

  21. Red
    by The Guilts
    00:00/00:00
With its bluesy rhythm carrying the tipsy vocals into a chorus of instrumentation you are placed within a vehicle travelling through the darkness. The ensuing floating trumpet groove levitates skyward to rest red eyed among the bruised clouds, exhausted yet beyond sleep.

  23. Axe
    by The Guilts
    00:00/00:00
From the first trumpet melody you know that you are in for a treat, when the band hits in with its heavy murderous thunder clap you know that your expectations are being surpassed. With a melody rich crescendo of electric explosions of erupting guitar and sweet hitting drums, all to project the vocals lively delivery. Axe is a very satisfying explosive single by a tight rocking band.

  25. This Moment
    by Jungle Bird Music
    00:00/00:00
Beginning with a free swinging groove with a country whip rhythm, the vocals present themselves with honey smooth clarity and strength while the accompaniment kicks into a freewheeling romp, with party cheers in the revelry of a great tune.
  26. The Seal Woman Suite
by The Boy Who Spoke Clouds
    00:00/00:00
The Seal Woman's Dance The Seal Woman's Dance
A beautiful realisation of this tale. The blending of art, music and storytelling make this a perfect escape from one's own existence to contemplate the world of The Seal Woman. The Boy Who Spoke Clouds creates lush soundscapes with this soundtrack album, the music enriching the story with its portrayal of nature and the emotions of the characters. I love the dynamic of The Seal Woman's Dance with its trance like effect on the listener, transplanted into the world of ice..
  27. Alles is ijdelheid
    by broeder Dieleman

De nieuwe zeven jaar De nieuwe zeven jaar
I had to have this album after I was lucky enough to get a vinyl copy of Gloria. Finding the same expert songwriting in Alles is ijdelheid, I find the music translates imagery, allowing the listener to connect with the landscape even without understanding the language. Great music for travelling across the land, even on the other side of the world. Very well placed in the documentary Land of Change.
  28. Beautiful Fountain
    by Roller One
    00:00/00:00
    Shadow Shadow
I've been enjoying Beautiful Fountain since the launch at the NSC. I was lucky enough to catch them and was impressed by the evolution since the intimacy of Motorsports. Roller One continue to be my favourite Australian country/folk band with their beautifully crafted and musically aware songs. Nothing competes, yet there are amazing performances of subtle instrumentation, including the rich and effortless vocals of a natural timbre. Each song is a unique display of character.

Awesome soundtrack to an awesome novel, every moment drives you further into the realm of Trucksong. My favourite song: Isa's eyes (reprise), beautifully poignant.
