Buckle up for this whimsical, eccentric romp through the mind of a young DIY visionary. I don’t know how Max did it, but this album somehow manages to be both beautifully mixed and delightfully raw. At times I’m reminded of Daniel Johnston, Violent Femmes, Man Man, the Velvet Underground, and David Byrne, but the music also doesn’t sound LIKE any of these artists—it’s an incredibly unique style and voice that’s completely its own. I can’t wait to hear the next thing Scally Wag cooks up!
