  1. Throisma
    by Antonis Antoniou
If you expect clear accoustics, vivid spontaneity or unbiased approach to injustice that branded Grappa, Sikoses & Angathin, this CD is not for you. In Pissourin, gloomy escapism was justifiable due to pandemic fear. This one boosts the tedious venomous e-staccato with no excuse or pardon, adding no new value. Appraised by critics long before we mortals gained access. No rustling found, just hiss.

    Pissourin Pissourin
The trio confronted the murky period with scrutiny. The result is this rhythmically rampant black blaze. They descended the cavern to elaborate on the caliginous condition as fascinated but composed explorers & wouldn’t emerge till the de- & reconstruction of the tenebrosity was complete. The musicians’ innate vigour permeates the Stygian darkness retold in rich Cypriot dialectal & musical phrase.

    Barıs Barıs
Seeing the (in-)famous barrels of the divided Nicosia, filled & fixed with concrete at the lifeless though green city strikethrough, my 1st thought was: ”I wonder what they sound like!” In his experimental album, one of the best songwriters & composers awakens the ghosts of the recent violent history that would otherwise keep slumbering inside. He limits himself to a whispering presence. If you manage to come to Nicosia, give the metal snake a thorough hit. Βάρα τα βαρέλια.

The system / Το σύστημα The system / Το σύστημα
Multicoloured threads fill the fabric of Cypriot tunes without getting muddled or motley, Tylliria being the most exquisite tissue. Seems as if a nonet were involved in this meticulous weave. Tsiakkara’s treble stretches in a triple skein, and System’s heaviest spool seems to uncoil turbulently three octaves deeper yet. The band’s each banner has been basted here, with System as the prominent one.

Tempest of the dawn / Φουρτούνα της αυγής Tempest of the dawn / Φουρτούνα της αυγής
For lone roamers responsive to other roamers. Be hurled by a swirl of water, air, passion into an un-reconnoitred 3D space. Despair & concern for the world’s fate subdues to a desire for a deliberate expedition away from loneliness, with episode of admiration in the "Whirlwind.” Rembetiko, electronic staccato, reggae & British spirit. Focus on the structure of the “Tempest” & "Breathless Shriek.”
  6. Sikoses (2015)

Mandra / Μάντρα Mandra / Μάντρα
Can one disc embrace a cross-section of Cypriot folk reconceived, rough satire made canorous, dissonance expressed by consonance, a mature canon, a deft multiple progression, rhythmic frenzy & so much more? Would any mortal be capable of emulating the expression of all hues of emotions by means of a flute, from silky enthrallment over sonorant scorn to hoarse moan of confinement?
  7. Angathin (2018)

Hey you / Έ άδρωπε Hey you / Έ άδρωπε
Better stop dancing & listen. Even if you are neither politician nor investor, be sure they’ve turned your vices into a song too. The threesome troop operates with sound & word. To cast all weapon down the abyss, it required apt orchestration of forces, robust morale, clear strategy, thorough preparation, awareness of strength, a shepherd-poet’s admonition & alliance with like-minded musicians.
