Have you ever wanted to hear what Corpsegrinder would sound like if he was trapped in an 8-bit platform game? Or a black metal musician baring his soul in a Parisian coffee shop? Or Venetian Snares but with chugging guitars? Monsieur Serre has you covered on all of those fronts and then some!

Tense cyberspace synthwave with the occasional dash of eerie signalwave, all wrapped up in an intriguing police procedural framing device for flavour. From the perspective of an IT guy like me, this is brilliant "concentration" music. Also, purely from a personal standpoint, I made sure to get this on tape on Bandcamp Friday, because dear lord, do these two need the support. I genuinely hope Andrey and Dmytro are both doing ok in these horrific times.

Imagine if Ivan Seal put on an exhibition of physical sculptures based on his paintings, lit by moody, saturated lighting; and the only person who showed up to this solemn, eerie space was you, the listener, during a depressive episode that’s barely being suppressed by a hazy drug high. This album would be the soundtrack to all of that. And yes, I mean all of what I just said as a compliment.

[2021 Album of the Year] If you're in an action movie with no fourth wall and someone calls for a montage, you are morally obligated to blast these 35 minutes of grandiose synths and guitar solos at full volume. You'll thank me later.

    It's Over It's Over
[2020 Album of the Year] Dark, gloomy lyrics, wrapped up in bright, sparkly dream pop instrumentation. A beautiful listen, and my absolute favourite release in a year that had a ton of amazing releases.

    Them Changes Them Changes
[2017 Album of the Year] I've heard this album described with many different genre labels, but the one I'm most satisfied with is "progressive R&B". It's got reams of funk and soul, but it's all marinaded in a proggy headspace that really tells you Stephen likes to think outside the box. Oh, and "Captain Stupido" has lowkey been the most relatable song to me over the past several months.
