A cluster fuck of orgasmic sounds. Perfect mix of grind, dissonant growls, noise and even a bit of industrial and math sounding sections. I especially loved the doomy/sludgy sound of the song Bleeding Horizon.
Soul piercing depressing screams mixed with some very beautiful and harsh instrumentation. Easy to see why it's held in such high regard, i loved every moment.
As much as i love the rest of BTBAM's other releases, this has always been my personal favourite by them ever since the day of its release. An easy 10/10 for me personally.
When it comes to the "atmosphere" in "atmospheric black metal", this release probably succeeds the most in making me feel like i exist within this universe of music.
Absolute classic, still holds up today. I've grown out of love with a lot of Melo Death/Hardcore music, but this one has always stayed with me. And i could say the same thing for the album Nocturnal.

I've recently gotten really hooked on genres like blackgaze. So when i heard people calling this grindgaze, i knew i had to give it a go, and it definitely did not disappoint.
While i much prefer the original mix with it's more raw production and imo more atmospheric, Sunbather is just gonna forever be a classic and was a gateway for me to finally get into black metal music. I've gone much further down the rabbit hole of much harsher music but Sunbather and Deafheaven as a whole will always be a favourite of mine.
