Great album!! Reminded me of so many influences as I was listening (variously, and at different times, such diverse artists as Knifeworld, XTC, Cardiacs, Mike Keneally, They Might Be Giants, and a number of members of the Henry Cow family tree, as well as snippets of Gentle Giant and Godley/Creme) but as a whole: A sometimes delightfully cacophonous, other times sweetly drifting, deceptive even when simple-seeming -- because no path is ever truly straightforward -- a melodic cavalcade, like an odds and ends shop of rare curiosities, each intriguing on its own, but -- taken as a collection -- a quirky museum of surprises! A breathless whirlwind of a review, to be sure, but Congratulations to Nick Prol and all you Proletarians! And great production, Ian Beabout, creating unique sonic spaces befitting each piece ... from the occasional wall of sound to capturing the unique ambience of a particular room, never sacrificing clarity of a given instrument or voice. Love it!!
