Everything Black (feat. Mike Taylor) Everything Black (feat. Mike Taylor)
Never really paid much attention to Monstercat before. I always assumed they were just second-rate bro-step, bass and big room electro-house. Maybe it was the cover on this one, but I decided to give it a chance, and, shit, if this isn't FIRST-rate bro-step, bass and big room electro-house. This is one epic collection, and is definitely one of my favorite comps in any genre this year. Thanks for upending my expectations, and this is definitely worth $10.

Very David Holmes/David Axelrod/Enter the Dragon. Groovy cinematic psychedelica with a kitchy orientalist vibe.

Let's face it, this is a great roots/psych rock band with a lot of variety and timeless appeal. And a great live show, to boot. This album deserves more attention, and not just from the Pitchfork crowd.

Sort of a seminal vaporwave release now. Lots of variety and varied production techniques. Definitely has that late '80s idol video OST vibe going for it, though perhaps the cover has my mind going that direction...

WOW. Blank Banshee-level vapor-trap extravaganza. Should appeal to both vaporwave regulars and old abstract/downtempo hip-hop fans. Drop $1 and get it.

In the Attic In the Attic
The only way I'll listen to 2 Chainz, through a gauze of sleepy vaporwave production. It's not all hip-hop, though; The Lady in Red even makes a slowed-down appearance. A bit cheeky and obnoxious at times, but all is forgiven.

A decent little vaporwave track. Sort of lonely all by its lonesome here, but there's probably a story behind that...
