  5. Remain in Light
    by The Roost
Dark Hearted (feat. MAGNUS X) Dark Hearted (feat. MAGNUS X)
The full-length follow-up to The Roost's previous album "Distant Lands", this record is another delightful tapestry of hip-hop melded with other genres and styles.

With its progressive song structures coupled with raw but clean production, "Remain In Light" is an album that is clearly the result of a personal journey spanning several years.

In each song, there is a strong sense of the artist's personal connection to the subject which makes for a truly memorable listening experience.
  6. Dreamscapes Vol.2: Solitude
    by Dream Sequencer
  7. After All This Time
    by Falaise
    One Day One Day
Blackened shoegazer vibes that perfectly capture the feeling of being caught up in the vastness of a lonely existence, with plenty of softer guitar passages to provide variety to the mood.

Some of the more introspective music from this unique niche.
  8. Where the Sun Glare Danced
    by Sickle of Dust
Dead Leaves Falling Dead Leaves Falling
Majestic black metal with a symphonic touch, this project doesn't feel short due to the length of each of the tracks.

The vocals are not too piercing, but nonetheless manage to permeate the rest of the instrumentation with grace.

A sound that is more sorrowful than it is brutal, like a funerary song at the end of time.
  9. Home Stories
    by Hainbach
Translucent (with Jeremy Blake) Translucent (with Jeremy Blake)
The album which first introduced me to ambient, although not the first one I owned... an experience that is both wistful and soothing, never too dark yet not suited to being described as joyful.

    One of Hainbach's finest works.
  10. Beneath The Great Sky Of Solitude
    by Dusk In Silence
The Goddess Of Eclipse The Goddess Of Eclipse
One of the most beautiful things I've heard in black metal...

Although the album is rather short, listening to it makes time stop and causes your mind to get lost in the grandeur of a past existence.

The harshness of the vocals, the sheer fury of the drums, and the intoxicating melodies of the guitars make for a truly transcendental experience... the gorgeous artwork only compliments it too!

Cannot recommend this enough to fans of melodic, cathartic black metal...
  11. The Music of Haven
    by The Roost
  12. Túrin Turambar Dagnir Glaurunga
    by Emyn Muil
Arise in Gondolin Arise in Gondolin
Quality Tolkien-inspired black metal with an old-school charm.

The synthetic instrumentation makes it sound like a soundtrack to an unproduced animated version of The Lord of the Rings from the 80s, and the mixing is similarly retro yet top-notch.

    Highly recommended!
  13. Ageless
    by Hesychast
Moth and Rust Moth and Rust
Beautiful unblack metal with a sorrowful sound, and the occassional Orthodox Christian singing is a wonderful addition. Love the Russian dialogue in the first track as well, really helps give it an atmosphere of remorse.

One of the best things I have heard in the unblack metal scene, highly recommend it.
  14. Into Eternity
    by Whisper from Heaven
Something of a hidden gem of modern Christian metal, this song combines prog-metal brutality with angelic vocals and a hopeful message that transcends the confines of metal and its subgenres.
  15. ISIH
    by Metatron Omega
    ISIH ISIH
The first track of this album fills me with a strange nostalgia...

The masterful blend of choirs and percussive instruments creates an atmosphere outside of time, a world that does not require a diverse sonic palette to feel alive.
  16. Call of the North
    by Ugasanie
    Arctic Hysteria Arctic Hysteria
The first ambient album I have purchased, this one has a very special place in my heart...

The absolute desolation invoked by these tracks makes for an excellent background to reading old science fiction novels or just contemplating the vastness of things.

A unique, haunting experience that set me out on the long, dark road of dark ambient...
  17. It's On Me
    by Dan Charbonneau
  18. Distant Lands
    by The Roost
    Metafunk Metafunk
From the composition to the production, this is an album like no other. LC skillfully blends hip-hop, experimental & electronic elements together in a project that feels fresh and sounds alive. The collaborations are also incredible, adding city pop and metal into the mix in a way that doesn't feel out-of-place.
  19. Butterfly
    by Krisena
Hands down one of the most beautiful piano pieces I have ever heard. Sounds like a lost piece of 19th century Romantic music, and I cannot describe how beautiful it is in words.
  20. Celeste Original Soundtrack
    by Lena Raine
Reach for the Summit Reach for the Summit
This soundtrack is a perfect example of why music doesn't have to be in a major key to be cheerful, and I love it for that and other reasons... it's superb!
