On this, their third release, the band have really found their own sound. My favourites include the excellent "Stagefright" & the title track "The Ghosts of Dunwich". Intelligent and thoughtful lyrics, good use of keyboards and single guitar lines make Dark Matter stand apart from many doom bands. Dunwich was the former Anglo Saxon capital of East Anglia that was lost to the sea; his album totally evokes Englands mysterious East Anglian countryside in the cold dark winter months. Recommended.

If you like, Black Sabbath, Opeth, or Witchfinder General then you'll love the "Wood Lane" the new CD from Dark Matter. This is a band created by Dave Gilbert, who handles vocals, guitars, bass, synths and had written all the tracks, together with Stefan Hepe on drums. The result is a triumph of doom rock. An album by people that really know the genre and is beautifully packaged. Excellent.
