Is this jazz? Is this pop? Is this folk? Beats me - but the songs are beautifully crafted, the arrangements are gorgeous, and the vocal harmonies will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. I hope to catch these folks live some time.
What an album: it goes from lyrical and gentle to soulful and gritty and everything in between - all of it is exquisitely played. I especially appreciate the spaciousness of Søren's playing. Every note has depth and feeling behind it - no noodly meandering here!
Neil is the kind of musician I want to be when I grow up, and this is my favorite album of his. As usual, expansive musical vision and jaw-dropping playing. I've listened to this one a ridiculous number of times.
